I just got me W-2 forms from work and it brought to mind all the flap last year about the IRS and their tatics. Seems like there were some changes and even firings involved in that. Anyone heard about the status of the IRS lately? Where there any changes? Has the IRS become a "kinder and gentler place?" Or is it same shit different year?

They were quite nice when I called for forms on Monday, even though it was around 11:00 pm.

Washington Post article today titled, "IRS Rating Is Still Low," may be found at:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/WPlate/2000-01/05/106l-010500-idx.html

One item of note:

...property seizures dropped from 10,000 a year during the 1990-1997 period to about 200 in fiscal 1999, but it noted that officials expect the numbers to rebound as revenue officers adapt to the new rules.

Oh, good.

They've been quite helpful and nice during my dealings with them. Of course, I was arranging to pay them money, so that helped. :)
