Just saw this story on the news.
A property developer in Stockholm decided to place an ad in the newspaper instead of sending Christmas cards to customers and employees.

The company is called locum (Yes, without a capital L).

In the ad their ad agency had placed a heart in place of the o.

l(heart)cum ...

Needless to say they were a bit embarassed.

That is..*snicker* unfortunate.

My questions are, though, just how can one miss a mistake like that? Surely the proofreaders and developers of the ad saw the finished product beforehand. And I wasn't aware that the Swedish used the same word for jizz that we did.

You learn something new every day.

We donīt use the same word in swedish. Almost everyone knows english, and a lot of those people have watched a certain type of films.

They interviewed someone at the ad agency and their comment was "Ooops, we didnīt think in english".

They also showed it to people on the street and 90% of those asked knew the english meaning of the word.

Which begs the question: what word do you use? I don't think Babelfish is going to help.
