So where's the new moderators at?

From the FAQ:
Editing Your Posts
You may edit or delete your own posts at any time. Just go to the topic where the post to be edited is located and you will see an edit icon on the line that begins "posted on..." Click on this icon to edit or delete the post. No one else can edit your post, except for the forum moderator or the bulletin board administrator. A note is generated at the bottom of each post that is edited so that every one knows when a post has been edited. Note that if your post was the start of a new topic, deleting your post will result in the removal of the entire topic (all replies after your topic will also be deleted).
Where's the edit feature at? I don't see one anywhere.

Again, from the FAQ :
What are icons?
Depending on the configuration of your forums, you may be able to associate an icon with each post that you make. There are currently 14 icons, each expressing a different emotion or identification. These icons range from a simple note to sadness to warning. These icons appear next to each topic in a forum listing and on each post. If you do not see icons, your forum administrator may not be allowing icons on this particular forum.
What icons?
Louie, it looks like they got the generic upgrade and just turned the edit feature off.

Are you thinking of changing your name so we don't ask you to instruct every newbie entering the board?

No, I don't mind that, it's just I was wondering why those things were in the FAQ, but not on the boards.

Maybe they thought 14 icons would be a strain because some of us still have trouble with the 11 smiley faces. :)

Oh, I'm gonna keep using these #%@&* codes 'til I get 'em right.

If you want to see a version of the UBB product with all the bells and whistles turned on (except edit, I think), visit our friends at the Left Behind Message Board (http://www.leftbehind.com/cgi-local/Ultimate.cgi) . IMHO, less is better in this case.

We can do without the stupid icons associated with the topics.

Editing posts has been mentioned. (I don't remember where.) IIRC, the opinion was that such a feature would allow a troll, say, to post, then after receiving flaming replies, change his post to something benign, which would make those who flamed look foolish.
I guess that could become a problem, if we ever get any trolls on this board. :)

How about letting people edit their messages, and then having a "last edited at..." marker on them?

Unrelated topic: when moderators move a topic from one forum to another, could they put at the topic a note about where it came from? It's kind of strange reading a thread with a bunch of "this should be moved to GQ" posts when I thought it was in GQ. Makes me wonder if I'm in the wrong forum.

They actually do this from time to time but are not consistent. So maybe you'll see a comment and maybe you won't. And maybe the one you see won't make much sense...

The stuff cited is UBB boilerplate.

We do need to edit out what's not relevant to our situation, but we've been kinda busy with other things, like keeping this site up and running to the best of our ability.

We removed the edit/delete functions from the user rights to keep chaos to a minimum and avoid trips to Fist City whenever possible. (We know you guys, we love you, but we know you.)

And the newer version of the UBB software that's installed is very icon heavy, we removed a lot of stuff that most of you would find very annoying. If you thought flaming folders was a big pain in the butt, you should see some of the other bells and whistles.

Very grateful for what we do -- and don't -- have. :)

If a post is edited there is an note something like [this post was edited by ...]. Sometimes you will see this if admin or mod edits a post. In a long post or one with lots of other symbols, this could easily be missed.

What I would like the mod's to do is:
When you move a topic, could you post a link to the new location?

We do tell you where we moved it to . . .and provide links when possible.

When we move a post, the old post is automatically closed, so that makes it difficult to add a link. Maybe that's something we can take up with UBB, I'll suggest it to them.

I kinda suspected there might be a technical reason (like you would not know where the new thread was until you closed the old).

It would be nice, though.

Thanks
