Right now, my favorite ice cream is Coffee Almond Fudge. I award it "Best Boyfriend Substitute" (as the SO's gone for the week for business).

Australian mango sorbet ice cream. Oddly enough, this is a Dutch chain of ice cream shops (I think there's one in Selfridges in London too, though). It gets the Fruitiest Ice Cream Ever award.
And this thread is off to IMHO.

Can't remember the brand name, but there is a range of ultra-de-lux ice-cream you can get in Australia (they sell it at the Gourmet Five Star supermarket in Crows Nest on Sydney's North Shore) that is out of this world. In taste - and unfortunately also in price.
They have a liquorice flavour one which is a rather off-putting dull greenish colour - but omigod the flavour! It is like frozen liquorice creme brulee or something! I can't wait to eat a tub of it when I next go down under.

Coldfire, if the Teeming Handful haven't already declared you an honourary Aussie, I'm doing it now (because I really do have the power to do that). When are you emigrating?
On the OP, I can't remember the brand name, but there's a butterscotch and toffee icecream I buy at the local Safeway that's pure heaven.

Well, thanks, but it's really just the name. The Australian brand belongs to the Dutch/English Unilever group. They don't appear to have a website, but a store manager of theirs told me there was nothing even remotely Australian about the place.
Still, I'd love to visit the Land Down Under some day. :)

Errrr, Unilever has a website of course, but the ice cream brand doesn't. Just so we're clear.

Taste it again... for the very first time (just don't swallow the gum like you did when you were a kid). :D

Right now, I'm big into Blue Bunny's Bunny Tracks. In the words of their website (http://www.bluebunny.com/products/subcat_display.cfm?cat=Round%20Half%20Gallons&subcat=Premium%20Ice%20Cream):
Vanilla Ice Cream with Thick Fudge and Peanut Butter Caramel Ribbons, Chocolate covered Peanuts and Peanut Butter filled Chocolate Bunnies
Yes, folks, thick fudge ribbons that are so dark, they're almost bitter. Peanut butter caramel ribbons. And as an extra-special added bonus, you get to chew up little peanut-butter filled chocolate bunnies.
There's some still left in my freezer, surprisingly enough.

Hmm. Current one: From Russia with Buzz, Ben & Jerry's. Yummy!
(Hint for those who like cookie dough ice cream: be VERY careful when using it in an ice cream float. Or, for laughs, request one from your local ice cream place. There's something about when that carbonated drink hits the cookie dough that makes it... erm... well... not exactly explode, but it puts grade-school volcano experiments to shame!)

I'll agree with the OP on the chocolate-chip cookie dough ice cream. Best. Ever.
Coming in at a close second is something called Monkey Business - I believe it is made by Ben & Jerry's. Banana-flavored ice cream with chocolate-covered something-or-other (I want to say peanut butter, but it's been a while since i had any) mixed in. Excellent stuff.

Hmm...since this turned into a "Your favorite Ice Cream" thread, I gotta cast my vote(s) for:
Ben & Jerry's Phish Food: chocolate ice cream, marshmallow and caramel swirls and little fudge fish.
B&J's Southern Pecan Pie: brown sugar ice cream with pecans, caramel, and chunks of pie crust (for when I can't get my hands on a real slice of warm pecan pie with a scoop of vanilla [and it's pronounced pe-khan' not pee'-can :) ])
And just about anything that has toffee pieces in it.

Hands down, Ben & Jerrys "Everything But The..." is a gift from God!
check it...
Vanilla ice cream
white chocolate chunks
toffee chunks
milk chocolate chunks
peanut butter cups
peanuts
caramel swirl
Mmmmmmmmm, ice cream.

I don't know if it's sold in pint anymore, as I can't find it in my local stores, but my favorite flavor was/is Ben and Jerry's Pulp Addiction. It's one of their Totally Twisted flavors that combines Orange and Cream with Chocolate Liqueur to make an orange chocolate liqueur flavor. Out of this world!

Hokienautic, B&J doesn't make Pulp Addiction anymore. I know this because it's my roommate's favorite ice cream, and she paid like a hundred dollars last year to have one of the last cases shipped out to us in California. I think she still has 2 or 3 pints left, and they're probably the last or some of the last in existence.
As for me? I'm going to see your Sven&Larry's Phish Food and Everything but the... and raise you Dreyer's Dreamery Black Raspberry Avalanche. MMMMM. I don't eat ice cream very often (my tummy does better with frozen yogurt), but I will eat half a pint of Black Raspberry Avalanche at one sitting.
Then I pay for it later.

As stated my the Macho Man, OOOOOOOOH YEAH!!!! Give me Raspberry Avalanche. I like to squirt a little of the Magic Shell topping (dark chocolate flavor) and I am in Heaven.
If anyone ever get the chance there is a little store just outside of a little town called Elbe, it is on the road to Mt. Rainier. They have home made hard ice cream. Got some a couple of years ago, wild blackberry and wild huckleberry combo. They only make about 30 gallons of it a year. I bought one of them. Paid $25 for it and it was worth every penny.

My tastes are simpler than y'all's. My all-time favorite is Chocolate Marshmallow Ripple. Think Phish Food without the little fish in it.
Currently, my freezer contains another favorite of mine, Caramel Sundae Crunch. Caramel ice cream, thick caramel ribbons, and chunks of chocolate-covered sugar cone. mmmm.

My absolute #1 favorite flavor of ice cream is no longer available. Ben & Jerry's, Vanilla with Chocolate Chunks. Simple, straightforward, and absolute perfection. Whenever we stop by a scoop shop, I look to see if they've got it; it runs about one time in four. When they do, I grab me a couple of pints.
Right now, the best ice cream I can buy in the grocery store is Godiva's Vanilla with Chocolate Caramel Hearts. Godiva also makes a Chocolate with (solid) Chocolate Hearts. Note the similarity? Both are quite good, but they aren't... quite... right.

That makes me so very, very sad.
Thankfully, they still make Jerry's Jubilee, a combination of their brownie ice cream and Cherry Garcia.

I like the rainbow one.. very simple

Yay! I had forgotten about Phish Food. It was my favourite flavour in the UK, but you can't get B&J in Australia (to my knowledge). You can get a bit here in Dubai in Choitrams supermarkets.
And I just went to the B&J site and found out that all their ice-cream is gelatine free (I gave up gelatine since leaving the UK) so I'm off to find a Big Fat Tub!!!

You're making me hungry. You are also making me remember the Chocolate Marshmallow Banana Nut Smash that was concocted by the Chocolate Shop in Cherokee, Iowa pre WWII.
I was working as projectionist at a local theater and stopped for one many early mornings on my way home from work.

I also forgot to mention a new Ben & Jerry's flavor I came across the other day called One Sweet Whirlled --coffee & caramel ice creams swirlled with a marshmellow ribbon and coffee-fudge chunks. That's one damned good ice cream.
I also weep for the end of Pulp Addiction. No good ice cream flavor should ever be retired.

Oh oh! I forgot to add...
Edy's Apple Pie ice cream. Only out for about one month in the fall then ::poof:: it's gone. Recently other's have started making apple pie ice cream, but they aren't as good. I look forward to September so I can camp out in front of my grocer's freezer :)

Marks and Spencer's Devilish Double Chocolate, (at least I think thats what its called): vanilla ice cream, chocolate ice cream, milk chocolate chunks, white chocolate chunks, chocolate sauce and little chocolate honeycomb Malteser type thingies.
Mmmm... chocolate.

My favorite Ben & Jerry flavor is S.N.A.F.U.--a blend of Vanilla Fudge ice cream and Cool Britannia: strawberry ice cream with bits of fudge covered shortbread cookies. I love the mixture of wildly divergent tastes.

There's a gelato place halfway across the city that does a chocolate ferrero-rocher ice cream. Chocolate with big pieces of hazelnut chocolates in it. They also do chocolate with amaretto. Perfect. La Paloma, that's the name. Second choice (also not a name brand): coffee toffee from Greg's, coffee ice cream with pieces of toffee chocolate bar in it. Their sweet creem and ginger is also good. Perhaps I'll visit them today...
When I was at the U of Wis in Madison long ago the ag dept. had a dairy farm that used the milk to make ice cream which they sold in the student union. They used to make an orange ice cream (not like sherbert; very creamy) with little chocolate chips, which I still dream about. Wonder if that's still there? Anybody know?
