You want this item so badly that you must handle it every time you enter that store.
You think about that item once or more on a daily basis.
You don't know for sure that you will actually use said item, if you had it, but your yearning for it is nearly unbearable.
You feel you absolutely must have this item, or life as you know it, without the item, seems empty and meaningless


What is your item?

Mine is a leatherbound writing journal. Everytime I go in Barnes & Noble, I MUST hold it. I smell the sweet blissfull aroma of the leather. I fan the cream colored pages. I feeling the crisp edges of each page, while listening to the rustle as the pages flip. Sometimes, I go in the B&N for the specific reason of torturing myself over this heavenly object. I MUST have this journal! I have been obsessing over it for at least an entire year. It costs $35.00. I am afraid if I buy it, I won't use it, even though I love to write. It's almost TOO damn wonderful to desecrate by writing in it.

Then I pull out the big guns...

The half bath. Oh, the glorious half-bath.

At that point I usually realize that the half-bath alone could run me a few thousand, and the bubble pops.

Defeated, I trudge back up the stairs misty-eyed, throw myself onto the couch in my tiny living room, and numb my pain with two-year-old Flavor Ice....

Okay, I thought of something. I always, always want those really, really big pre-stretched canvases I see every time I go to the art supply store, like, 4' X 6' or something (haven't checked actual measurements), or even bigger. But I have no room for them in my apartment, and I keep putting off renting studio space so I could have somewhere to keep the things. (There's also no studio space for rent that I know of close to my place.)

Now, I could move to one of those "artist's loft"-type places, but you can't find a whole lotta them in the 'burbs, and there is NO way I will live in Baltimore City. (Yes, buck-buck-buck, I'm a chicken.) And since painting is my hobby, not my living, I guess I'll have to continue lusting for them big ole canvases from afar for now. Oh well, my paintings are big in my head, anyhow....! :p

Well, I started lusting for the previous model of Canon's SLR digital camera, and now there's one with twice the resolution for about $US1000 less on the street. So, as soon as I can convince my wife that I really need to drop two grand on a camera (likely to be followed by new printer, at least one new lens, maybe a microdrive card, and oh yeah, a new desktop PC would be really nice), I'll be buying the Canon D60.
