Well, as far as I can tell there's no _proof_, but there's a whooooole lot of damning circumstantial and anecdotal evidence that the Taos Hum is.....
*dramatic pause*
The LORAN navigational radio system!
Salient points:
* People only hear the Hum in areas with LORAN.
* The spread of the Hum corresponds with the deployment of LORAN
* LORAN works on the frequencies that 'hum detectors' pick up.
There are plenty more indicators. A Hum hearer went to a LORAN station and reported hearing it loud and clear, as well as a harmonic a bit lower than his usual hum.
