Seems like me and mine stagger from crisis to crisis. (Not been the greatest of times for us, not at all.) I've shared some of these with you and yes, I'm back again, dammit.
My mother goes in for kidney surgery tomorrow. She's got stones too many and too big to pass and for her surgery (as opposed to all the laser and chemical and other options now available), surgery is the safest and the best.
No, it's not the most serious surgery in the world (thanks be!) but she ain't having her toenails cut neither. We're worried about her. I just want this to go well, for her to do good and be relieved of the immense pain she's in.
I'd appreciate it if you kept a good thought for the TubaMama tomorrow, I'd appreciate it an awful lot.
Jenny

Best wishes, TubaDiva and TubaMama. At the rate this is going, we might as well have all the admin and mods get their parents into surgery, so we can send out bulk best wishes.
You know, for quality best wishes.
Hope it all goes okay.

Best wishes to your mom Tubadiva. I had a serious bout with kidney stones 3 years ago, and still pass one occasionally, so I feel her pain. Literally.;)

Best wishes to TubaMama and to you TubaDiva. I'm sure the surgery will go fine. One question, if it's not too intrusive? Is your mom having actual cut into the skin surgery or is she having one of the ultrasound deals to try and break up the kidney stones?
My thoughts are both with and about you.

Thanks to all of the above, I appreciate your good words.
She's actually being cut on. Apparently in this situation the old tried and true method is best, though the hospital has all sorts of stone smashing equipment of various types.
Technology is wonderful but not always the best choice. Nice that patients have options, though. In the couple of days we've known about this I've heard all kinds of stories involving everything short of having the Voodoo Queen come over and put a live chicken on your back and dance the mambo. Everybody came through just fine, too, which was the best news of all.

I'm assuming TubaMama already tried Dr. Schulze's Kidney Stone Dissolving Routine? "Drink two gallons of liquid and call me in the morning..." Heh.

I'll keep a good thought for both of you. I know how nerve-wracking it is to have your mother in for any surgery, even the least dramatic kind. I've also heard from various sources that the slice-and-dice method for kidney stones is far more likely to take care of the problem permanently than the ultrasound method. I hope that's the way it works for your mom.

Make sure that yo' Mama saves her stones so as to offset the cost of the surgery and fees by selling them to whatever side she chooses ( the highest bidder) over in that cat fight in Israliastein. You know how they loooooove throwing stones at each other other there.
Best o' luck to Tuba Mama. ( i like that name, btw, it has panache.)

Sending lots and lots of prayers and postive healing thoughts to you and your mom, hon. And when she is all better, I think you should both just take a nice long "everyone is healthy" break, what do you say? I am sure you could BOTH use the rest!

An update:
She's home, she's resting . . . in some pain but not the awful pain she had before, this is post-surgical pain. Still on painkillers, of course, and she's a little woozy, and etc., but hopefully the worst of all of this is behind her now.
Thanks for all the good wishes and positive affirmations -- and the chuckles. Y'all ARE the greatest and I always feel with the Teeming Millions in our corner we have at least a fighting chance to get through whatever awfulness confronts us. We're most blessed to have you.
