View Full Version : Why only one post every 60 seconds?
How come the moderators have chosen to only allow one post every 60 seconds? I know it's probably to prevent people screwing with the message boards, but I like to have about 10 threads open at once and its just a hassle when it wont let me post all the replies at once.

It's to prevent people screwing with (read: spamming) the message board by posting blizzards of replies to dozens of threads at once.
The server can't handle the volume as it is.
You'll just have to get used to stopping down the flow of your genius and waiting 60 seconds between posts like the rest of us. :D

Also, it cuts down on people trying to submit the same post twice in a row by accident. I know I've seen that page a couple times and noticed that it saved me from double posting.

The main purpose is to prevent double-posting. Also I would hope that encourages people to think before they post.

Surely you can't be typing them all at once, can you?

With the message board being slow as it is, we might actually consider making it a -say- 5 minute period. That way, double posts would be fewer, traffic would decrease (making the boards more accessible for reading), and posts would be more coherent and value-adding because people had more time to think about them.
Hmmm...

Hey! :( Please don't do that, Coldy!!

Hell, then I say let's limit it to one post an hour!

Well... considering I make a post every 342 hours (at my current posting rate), Ike's suggestion is fine with me!

Every 5 minutes would be great. It would encourage people to actually read the thread before posting.

A post an hour?
Nooooooooo. That would so ruin my plans for "2K in May."
Every five minutes? Still too extreme. You'll still have people (me) hitting "submit reply" every two seconds to see if the five minutes is up yet.

I'd be hitting "submit reply" just as often as Why A Duck would, if they made it one post every five minutes. I echo Nenya_Elizabeth when I say, "Please don't do that!" :(
And don't even get me started on one post an hour.. :(

I think one post per five minutes is a fantastic idea.

Yep I sure am. I have 10 computers side-by-side each with its own thread opened.
Not really. I just have a bad habit of opening too maby windows at once. Which may also contributing to the internet being hellishly slow for me.
