View Full Version : I am really digging Yanni tonight

Is there something wrong with me? I know his stuff is pure vanilla, but it's a nice change of pace from the heavy metal I always listen to, and he at least has some talent, unlike John Tesh or some of the others of that ilk. Yanni's stuff actually has some interesting melodic counterpoint and, frankly, some pizazz.

On the other hand, it's stuff my mother would listen to. Nonetheless, Live at the Acropolis is a genuinely awesome album, IMO.

Flame away. You know you want to.

It's not too late, Doors, come back from the dark side! We can help you return to your normal self. We all make mistakes, but you don't have live like this.

Someone help with this Yanni intervention!

Dude, there is so much GREAT music out there that would be a "nice change of pace from the heavy metal I always listen to." Find a good classical station (the best in the world is Chicago's WFMT (http://www.wfmt.com)) or a jazz station (suggestions anyone? Seattle's KPLU is pretty good, but I'm sure there are better ones out there.). Immerse yourself in some great music and you'll be amazed what's out there.

Oh, I know. My father is a professional musician. I was raised with the classics.

Nontheless, after listening to Pantera and getting so wound up I want to jump around and break things, I feel like the King of all Pussies when I listen to Yanni.

Maybe I need some sissification. You be the judge.

Dear Airman Doors,

I have of late been uncertain whether I made the correct choice in joining the Army. Thank you for putting all of that to rest.

Yours truly,

I think it is very brave of you to admit this Mr. Doors.
Sad, but very brave.

Out of curiousity, did you have a towel wrapped around your head, some candles by the tub, a little popourri sprinkled on your mules and a glass of Merlot in hand?

Don't worry. It'll be our little secret. I am sure no one on this board will EVER remind you of this again.....

Nope. It was more like Tinactin and Mad Dog, the green vintage. I will confess to the candles, however.

And don't you worry, MsRobyn will NEVER let me forget it. She doesn't need your help. :)

That's "Don't make me slap you, Captain Beavis, sir," Airman.

If I used smileys, there'd be a winking one here.

Sweetie, you know I support you in everything you do, but for Chrissakes, did you need to advertise this? ;) Yanni?!

Our kid's going to be warped. :D

Hey, I've got your back, Airman. I've been listening to Yanni since the early 90's. Enya, too.

I've got three, maybe four Yanni albums on my CD shelf- right between W.A.S.P. and Yes.

Considering the fact you're intelligent, heroic and I like all the other stuff you've said...

"Will you be my bitch?"

No, but you can be mine if you want.

You can get your Man Card back by posting the results (with pics) of you going to a redneck bar and shouting loud enough for everyone to hear that you like Yanni.

Airman Doors, I'm not exactly hardcore, but I too am afraid to admit that I like Yanni. Well, not all Yanni but some Yanni. Check out Tribute. It's a wonderful CD.

Try a little blue grass, especially new grass stuff like Nickel Creek, if you want a break from the oridinary. But, please, please, please never speak of the Yanni again.

I recommend you seek out Apocalyptica immediately. Your very soul is at risk!!

Sweetheart, I never, ever want to hear you say anything about Air Supply ever again.

::MsRobyn rummages around in Airman's CD collection and puts on some Slipknot to bring him out of this::

"Even the nights are better,
Now that we're here together.
Even the nights are better,
Since I found you...."

I will now go and slit my wrists, since I'm out of Lysol for the brain scrubbing I need so terribly badly right this second. I mean, who but me would actually know any words to an Air Supply song?

I should be ashamed, but I'm somehow taking perverse pleasure in this thread. :D

::shudder::

I will sleep less soundly now, knowing that someone who is supposed to defend me is a Yanni fan and knows Air Supply lyrics (and probably sings along).

I thought you guys just used Yanni for interrogation.

In Airman's defense, the whole Air Supply thing is my fault. I have the quoted song as an MP3 and he won't quit ragging on me about it.

He also won't let me bring Barry Manilow into the delivery room, so cut him some slack, okay?
