I searched for a thread, but didn't find one on the boards.

John Hope (http://www.accessatlanta.com/ajc/epaper/editions/friday/metro_d390aadd31aa81f800a0.html), the hurricane expert from the Weather Channel died Thursday.

He was also one of the original parishoners at my church and the funeral will be held there (even though he will be buried in Macon).

I'd never met him, but I'd heard stories about the early days of the parish. And I'd watched him on the Weather Channel during hurricane season for years. I vaguely remember him during Hurricane Andrew. My favorite item from his obit?

For his daughter's high school graduation gift, Mr. Hope named a hurricane after her, Hurricane Camille, the 1969 storm that ultimately struck throughout the South, killing 256 people.

What a graduation present.
