Revised Plan for MI/OH Dopers to get together

Although I am curious if any eastern MI Dopers (or anybody else) is interested in going to the Michigan Renaissance Fest sometime between August and October. Personally, I want an excuse to go up to Persephone's house and ask her for some pie. :D

Anyway, I said something like this:

I'm not reviving the old thread on this because plans have changed. But as you might recall, I notified you all that two great events are happening in Ann Arbor in mid-July. The first is(are) the Ann Arbor Art Fairs. The second is the visit of EnderW24.

Ender has kindly changed his schedule so I don't have to try to lure people to Ann Arbor twice. He will be coming in on Friday, July 19th and staying through Saturday July 20th.

I propose that those of us who want to walk around Art Fair on Saturday afternoon. Then, those of us who want to can join up (or stay) for dinner with Ender on Saturday evening. You can do either one or you can do both, depending on your preferences and your other pressing weekend engagements.

I haven't decided on time or places yet (picking a restaurant could be a bit tricky what with an extra 100,000 people milling about Ann Arbor that day) but we'll work something out. Post your interest here and/or drop me an email.

That's SATURDAY, JULY 20th.

Well, I'm going to be there. And I'm forcing quixotic78 to go, too. He'll be the lone Ohio representative, I think.

I keep seeing all these signs saying "Shuttle for Art Fair." I haven't ventured downtown since the fair started, but the signs make me think that traffic will be a nightmare, and shuttles are a Good Idea. Cranky, do you have an idea for meeting at a shuttle stop, or at a cafe or something? Anyone have a time in mind?

Crap, this won't happen for me because:

1) I'm too wiped out from work and a horde of other activities to make a 16 hour drive this weekend. Is my age showing yet?

2) I have a date Friday night. Crankster, babe, I love ya, but you're married and she's not. :D (Also, I made the date after I decided I wasn't going...don't feel bad.)

Oh well...I'll be back in MI in a month anyway. Here's hoping we can do an MI Renaissance Dope this fall!

OKAY.

We will meet at 1 pm Saturday at the center court of the Briarwood Mall. Once we are all assembled, we will proceed to the Shuttle Bus departure area and head to the Art Fair.

I will be looking for Ender (he'll probably be beside me), Kyla & quix, Shadowfox, Persephone, and MrBlue92. Others are welcome, but you better either get there early or tell me you're coming, because otherwise I'll think everyone is accounted for and we'll leave when the aforementioned list of people gathers.

AFTER Art Fair, we will go back to the mall and our cars and then we can go to The Cranky Manor and figure out what we're doing for dinner. If anyone wants to do dinner but ain't meeting us for the art fair, this would also be a good time to let me know. Hint, hint. Anyone who needs to get home and can't stay for dinner, that's fine too.

Bring a hat or sunglasses (perhaps both) and wear good walking shoes.
