My four-year-old daughter is totally addicted to Neopets. She'd play it all day if we let her. I've been helping her with her little Neopet, and I must say, it's pretty addictive!
Any adults playing this thing? They have a 'games' area where you can play various flash games for Neopoints to buy things for your Neopet. The games are generally reworkings of classic games like Asteroids, Galaxian, or puzzle and card games with a kid theme, but identical gameplay. Some of the puzzle games are really good.
It's an amazingly complex site, and apparently 33,000,000 Neopets have been created. That's an amazing number! When she's on there, it's obvious that there are thousands of kids on at the same time. Things like auctions are bid on incredibly hard.

I have two pets (Morgenstern and Stormhound), my daughter has a couple and my son has one.
There are actually several Dopers who play over there. We even have a Guild.

Reheely? My sister is way to into Neopets. There's a guild for Dopers? Might get her to join the SDMB after all. Just have to get the mods to do some judicous deleting of threads I've started first :).

I've got one pet. My daughter has one too. She the one who introduced me to it.
I don't have enough time to figure out all the intricacies. I'd just like to gather a bunch of points so I could build a big, cool house and furnish it. And make Plunkette_11217 the smartest pet there and buy every book there is.

So where is this Doper guild? Anyone have a link?

I play neopets and use it for special ed. It is great for reading and maths. I have 3 little boys who after doing some work on chance and data have decided gambling is a really bad idea. They are learning to read too. Neopets are cool, which is a real bonus.

I'm thirty years old and I have four neopets. They started out being my kids pets, when they got bored, I took over. I couldn't bear the thought of letting them starve to death. I like playing the games too.

No, absolutely not.
Seriously, I mean it.
Really! I don't have three neopets or have had an account for 18 months now or anything. And I certainly didn't work my tushie off to be able to upgrade my bank account to Diamond Deposit Plus, or make numerous layouts of how I wanted my NeoHome to be laid out or anything. And I really, honestly, don't kvetch about how too much focus is on the goddamn battledome that I don't like and I wish they would just focus on other things like the Homes and School and... UH, but like I said, I don't play neopets. At all.
And I certainly didn't get numerous people at my college playing it because of me, either. ;)

Well, I've ventured into the games section, and find one thing odd. I'm assuming by how easy the various games are and the theme of the page that this is aimed at kids. Does it seem odd to have Blackjack, Keno, Slots, and Craps as games to bet on and play? I mean, I'm enjoying it, but it seems an odd thing to teach to kids and encourage. (Unless you're teaching them how often you lose, which is pretty often).
Just a thought...

I wondered about that, but I don't know if it's bad or not. You can also bet on Poogle races, which my daughter does all the time.
But I beg to differ that the games are all that easy. Some of the puzzle games are pretty tough. Try Destructo-Match, or try to get a big score in Kiko Match, or... Fun stuff.
I had an account and a pet there, but it's probably starved to death by now, and I can't remember the password. Or my username there, in fact.

I play on there sometimes. This thread reminded me, so I went back and played some of the games today. Cheat is fun and not too hard. (I got a trophy! Ooh!) I think I'm gonna go play that now. Fun...
