Everyone probably has one. You know the one that would go off as you entered a room.
Theme from Bonanza for me. Plus I always thought that I was a Cartwright in another life time

Oh, I don't know. It depends on what mood I'm in.
If I'm feeling mysterious, it's probably "Daily Nightly" by The Monkees.
If I'm feeling silly, it's probably "Auntie's Municipal Court" by The Monkees.
If I'm feeling rebelious, it's probably "Bye, Bye, Bye, Bye" by Michael Nesmith (Note-actually ALL these songs are by the Nez)
If I'm feeling drunk, it's probably "Dedicated Friend" by Michael Nesmith.
If I feeling love, some alien being has taken over my body. However if I'm feeling lust, it's probably "Sweet Young Thing" by The Monkees.

Lit Up by Buckcherry. It's pretty self-explanitory if you know the lyrics. Even though I've given that stuff up now, it's still my theme song.

When i'm in a great mood (like yesterday afternoon after a really great phone call) Everyday Sunshine by Fishbone
When I'm morose - There is a Light That Never Goes Out by the smiths
when i'm feeling rowdy - No One Lives Forever by Oingo Boingo
When feeling tender and cuddly - most any Harry Connick Jr
right now, 3 am, no sleep or hope of sleep: Shriekback "This Big Hush"
Is there a fire in the sky
Is there a moon up there
Is anything alight now
This darkness hears what I hear
This is a breathless silence
A moment out of time
I see your face in the shadows
The tell tale signs are in your eyes
More than I can hold in my hands
Running through the gaps like water
Aching with a passion inside
Deep as the river of desire
The ashes and the fire
Turning this light inside
And the light from you
Is there a flame in the dark
Is there a bright hot star
These creatures look the same now
We freeze wherever we are
We wake alone in the blackness
We sleep wherever we fall
One dream all around us
This big hush infects us all
Holding up my hand in a field
Soaking up the waves underwater
I'm tuned to music no one can hear
Forever in this halflight of desire
The ashes and the fire
Turninging this light inside
And the light from you.

That would be a certain song by Rush: Cold Fire. Duh ;)
There are probably 50 better songs I could name right now, but this one (especially the gripping opening cords and smooth flow-of-music following them, if y'all know what I mean) sure would do great accompanying me as a boxer enetering the ring, or something along those lines.
Strange, I never had any boxing ambitions before :)

Rennaisance Period, "If My Complaints Could Passions Move" by J. Dowland (played this piece before college)
Classical Period, "Melancholia" by M. Giuiani
(played it my junior year in college)
Romantic/Twentieth Century Period, "Concerto for Guitar and Small Orchestra" H. Villa-Lobos (played it my senior year in college) I know Villa-Lobos is not a Romantic composer but so much of his music takes from that period.
Folk Music, "Turkey in the Straw" (instrumental version) traditional, when I am in a goofy mood, "Lady Isabella and the Elf Knight" traditional when I am in a morbid mood, and "Moonshiner" or "Shady Grove" traditional, when I am in a good mood.
Pop Music, "Love Song" by the Cure

My theme song, when I'm feeling like Lassie fucked the cantaloupe (you know, melancholy), is Billy Strayhorn's immortal "Lush Life." Natalie Cole did it on her "Unforgettable" album, but in my opinion the tie for best version is:
(instrumental) John Coltrane, on the album "Lush Life"
(vocal) Johnny Hartman, on the album "Johnny Hartman and John Coltrane"
When I'm in a more bouncy mood but still a dark one, it's "Dead Man's Party" by Oingo Boingo.
When I'm cooking, it's "Soul Food to Go" by Manhattan Transfer.
I've Got "It" But "It" Don't Do Me No Good
I'm surprised nobody else has taken this one, so I will: "Bitch" by Meredith Brooks. Yeah, it was overplayed for a while, but the lyrics are great.
You're so good to me I know
but I can't change
Tried to tell you
but you look at me like
maybe there's an angel underneath
innocent and sweet
Yesterday I cried
It must have been a relief
to see the softer side
I can understand how you'd be so confused
I don't envy you
I'm a little bit of everything
All rolled into one
I'm a bitch, I'm a lover
I'm a child, I'm a mother
I'm a sinner, I'm a saint
I do not feel ashamed
I'm your help, I'm your dream
I'm nothing in between
You know you wouldn't want it any other way
etc.
I've never found a song that so accurately describes my frustrations with relationships. And it's got a catchy tune, too!

Eris, I'm pretty sure the lyrics were "I'm your hell, I'm your dream...", and not help. I thought I'd post this because it didn't seem like a typo.
If there's a male equivalent for this song, I think it would be, "I'm an Asshole." It was some obscure song, really funny, but I forget the artist.
My theme song still stands: "One bourbon, one scotch, one beer." -- George Thoroughgood.

That'd be Denis Leary, or The God of Comedy.
Depending on my mood, my choices would have to include:
Halcyon (+ on + on) (I don't know who does it... it's on the Mortal Kombat soundtrack)
32 Flavours by Ani DiFranco/Alana Davis.
Sullen Girl by Fiona Apple
Rapture by Blondie
and
Shut Up by the Bloodhound Gang
That's all I can think of for right now. I think I did a pretty good job, since I have "Kung Fu Fighting" playing on a loop in my brain. (Thanks ever so much to whoever posted that...)

"I'm an Asshole" was indeed done by Denis Leary, but I think he covered it off of an English version of this song - as to who did THAT, I have no clue.
Yes, the title is "Paperback Writer" and it's by the Beatles, I think.

Heath, you ask great questions.
Depends on my mood, and it isn't just the soundtrack that runs though my head. I have to walk it and time my steps to it. And look like one of Jerry's Kids.
Bach's Third Brandenburg. No kidding. Try it. It swoops and soars and KICKS.
Flirtin' With Disaster by Molly Hatchett.
Take Five by DBQ. (I'm very impressive floating along with the drum solo.)
In certain moods, I USED to embody Truckin' by the Dead. But that was before Manhattan spoiled it for me entirely by his "tums, vitamin E and Rogaine". It's pretty danged hard to have a musical theme, your soul in sound, if it makes you snicker and honk like a loon.
Not that a carry I a grudge.
