Yes, it's the sequel to my rant earlier this week, Mother-In-Law, Please Don't Cook For Me (http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=133489).
After seeing how upset I was (thanks to the thread above), Mr Cazzle went to see his stepfather, and mentioned that I was very sick after eating there.
Tonight, MIL rang to wish me a happy birthday, and steered the conversation to the issue of my health. She showed a lot of concern over me, and said she was sorry I was feeling so bad on Monday. She then offered to take Mr Cazzle and I out to dinner tonight, her shout.
Well, after being such a cranky, whingy, sooky little misery-guts earlier in the week, I feel so much better tonight. MIL seemed upset that lasagne had made me sick, and most upset that I had to take a day off work, and so I hope this experience will change future menus in her home. I also feel better about her feelings towards me - there's nothing that feels so much like rejection as people not seeming to take you into consideration. The fact that she's making the effort here to do something so nice for me makes me feel like a valued member of the family again.
In short, I'm feeling happy. And bring on the birthday wishes! I love having birthdays :)
