But... 3K+1, baby!

I was gonna make this my 3,000th, but I got caught up in the Federal Death Penalty thing, and mistakenly shot the big 3K post there.

Oh, well.

They're not in, but I noticed your count in Swiddles' thread and wanted to say congrats.

YAY!
Way to go!
I am reaching 4,000 myself. So...maybe Guinistasia deserves 10 parties?

Mon cher Bricker:

What the SDMB is after is quality, which is why the PCP custom declined.

However, from the Bricker challenges to clear expounding for us laymen of the intricacies of the law over in GD, you have given us over 3,000 examples of how to write an intelligent, informative post.

May you be blessed with life and health -- you already have more than enough wit and wisdom -- to grace this board with 3,000 more!

Congratulations on this milestone, and thanks for all you've given us to date. :)

Congrats, Rick!

So, are we ever gonna see you at another Dopefest? It was a pleasure to meet you a couple years back!

I think part of the dissing of post parties was because half the newbies who reached 100 posts were marking the occasion with a post party. There was a time when it looked like MPSIMS was going to be more post parties than everything else put together. I think we can deal with the occasional 4- or 5-digit post party.

Congrats, Bricker. Not only have you reached a milestone, you've reached it with class, intelligence, and humor. I'd buy you a drink, but last time I tried it, the beer wouldn't go through my phone line and only made a huge mess.

Keep up the good work!

But should there be a Roger Maris-ish asterisk for the three-minute mysteries?
not that I can talk, they're probably responsible for at least 100 of my posts. But congratulations are are still due, I'm just sticking them in the small print where you lawyer types are more likely to see 'em.

Just wondering, does anybody have any plans for celebrating when the board reaches the 2,500,000 mark? 3,000,000?

Yay for you. I tried to throw a 150-post partay for myself.

Nobody attended. :(

I'm blazing my way to 1000, though. That ought to be fun.

My son wants to know what would happen if someones count went to 500,000.
If it was possible without messing up the boards.

I'm gonna post here just so I can bring myself 1 post closer to my first K. :D

Yeah, it is frowned on.

But you have to ask yourself...is it VALID? Is it valid for post parties to be frowned upon?

THESE are the great questions of life. Which, if you think about it, is the raison d'etre of the Straight Dope.

Well, as I cogitate, I would just like to say....

CONGRATULATIONS!

Res told me yesterday that he was going to hell for a triple post, but now I see he's made a quadruple post. Ninth circle of hell, perhaps? :p (seriously, don't worry about it: I've done that at least twice that I can remember)

Bricker, congrats! :) PCPs are frowned upon, but when it comes to you, I'm sure the mods will make an exception. ;) I enjoy reading your posts.. they're sure not as flighty as mine are!

3144, as of this post, not the 3003 that's showing.

Plus all the posts that have been in threads that have been lost and deleted.

So, to continue my endless harping of the point, not only are post count parties useless, they're also never done at the right time.

I know, I know....crazy how that just keeps happening......

Anyway, as long as it's not 'in', count me in. Congratulations on the numbers, on an admirable writing style and crystal clear analysis. Always a pleasure to read you !

Four posts?!?!?

What a faux pas. :smack:

StGermain: The situation is nuttier than I thought. All concerned parties are alive, though.

Yes, that was a good time, and good beer as well!

I'd be up for it, but now that there's both a Mrs. Bricker and a 12-month-old Bricker Jr, coordinating the schedules is a bit tougher.... Mrs. Bricker is still reluctant to leave the baby with anyone other than family... and since hers is in the DR and my mom's been having some health issues lately, we've scaled back our outings.

But... my MIL is coming to visit soon, so who knows what scheduling doors that may open?

- Rick
