Saw her play on TV at a friends house....

Stunned doesn't do it justice.

I believe she is the daughter of a sitarist who achieved guru status, and who had some involvement with the beatles. She herself seemed to be a famous instrumentalist and was undeniably a virtuoso.

Can anyone ID her so I can hear more?

That's Norah Jones, daughter of Ravi Shankar, milo.

Anoushka (http://www.bbc.co.uk/asianlife/tv/east/east2002/asst/anoushka_shankar_sitar_trek.shtml), aparently.

Top google hit for "shankar sitar".

Close enough for 16 minutes, cheers.

Did she play jazz piano? Bit of a Hank Williams influence? Norah Jones' debut album just might be her generation's "Carole King TAPESTRY." Highly recommended.

If she was playing the sitar, it was Anoushka Shankar.

If she was playing jazz piano and singing like an angel, it was Norah Jones.

They are half sisters--Ravi Shankar is their father, but they have different mothers.
