I have a Wintel computer with a whole bunch of mp3 music on it, and a decent set of speakers. I usually use Musicmatch Jukebox 7.2 to listen to my music.

I was wondering whether there was any software available that would allow me to use this setup as a type of radio alarm, whereby i could set a time and the song of my choice would begin to play and wake me up?

You can use the Task Scheduler (Scheduled Tasks folder in Control Panel typically for 2000/XP) to run a program at a certain time. That program could be something like WinAmp with a parameter of the song you want to play.

Other than that, it'd be a fairly trivial application to compose, so I'm sure there's software out there that might make it easier to select and change the songs you want.

This is what I do for my alarm (I use winamp. ymmv). Just like Corbomite said, create a scheduled task that runs daily and when it asks you what to run, have it run the playlist or .mp3 file.

You can also set it to kill the player after its been running for too long.

Winamp also preserves the random settings, so you can wake to a random song if you want.

MusicMatch has an alarm function -- it's what I use an alarm clock. You have to enable the QuickPlay function first and then set it from the taskbar.

Do a search on "PC alarm clock" at Download.com (http://download.com.com/2001-20-0.html?legacy=cnet) and you'll get a whole list of free/inexpensive programs.

Thanks to you, and to everyone else for their suggestions. I've got it all worked out now.
