Ever since last weekend, when I was flipping between Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and The Joy Luck Club, I've been craving Chinese food. We're going to have to go to The Green Garden fairly soon.

Now, granted, Chinese food in Florida is probably VERY different from what they serve in Shanghai, (or even London) but still, a snacking dish full of lei lei's, followed by a nice plate of lemon chicken with a shrimp egg roll on the side...

And the mustard. Can I tell you about the Chinese mustard? I love that stuff. I'm normally not a big spicy food eater, but I slather that stuff on (making sure my water glass is full, of course, and the napkin is nearby to cover my soon-to-be-runny nose)

What's your favorite Chinese food?

Sure, but after posting about Chinese food, you'll be wanting to post again in an hour.

But, to answer the OP,

I like schezuan chicken, extra spicy, with those long red peppers. And several egg rolls with fresh mustard for dipping. Yummy

I'm am about to head off to work, which happens to be a Chinese restaurant (I know you are all jealous, right?). I have every intention of asking the cooks to make me some Veggie noodle soup with an egg roll for dipping. Oh baby, that's what I am talking about. Yummmmmy.

Wonton soup! How could I forget wonton soup?

For those in China, how does Chinese regional food compare to American Chinese food?

Funny, Ivylass, my daughter and I just got thru satisfying our recurring urge for Chinese.

The restaurants here have invented something so weird, I'm thinking it coulnd't have originated in China. But maybe so. They fix some tempura fried shrimp & then pour a white sweet sauce over it. I overheard one of the ladies telling another that it was white frosting & mayonnaise (WTF???) Anyway, it's pretty good if you don't get a piece with too much sauce on it.

Spring rolls, shrimp with lobster sauce, pot stickers .. YAY !!

My sister in law is from china. Her style of cooking is very hot (spicy). My brother says this is because of her hometown's proximity to Korea. China is a HUGE place, and just like we have cheesesteaks & Tex-Mex & Southern fried chicken, it's impossible to consider Chinese as one particular style; there are many regional styles.

Oh ! and egg drop soup !!!!!!!! :-P

General Tso/Tsu/etc chicken is good, as is Mongolian beef, the spicier the better.

Lemon or Honey Chicken, Braised Chicken, Beggars chicken, anything that clucks basically. And I LOVE the little prawns wrapped in bacon and served with chilli sauce.
YUM!

General Tso's Chicken, specifically the kind they make at Chap-A-Nosh on Elm Street in Brooklyn.

Nowhere else seems to get it right.

I'm a wimp when it comes to "hot" Chinese food but I love the rest of it. My favorite is Sesame Chicken.

Mr. Ruby and I just went to our local Super Chinese Buffet tonight, as a matter of fact. So much for Weight Watchers this week!

I'm eating my famous sweet & spicy noodles with chicken and vegetables as we speak...

Spicy as hell but man are they good. The entire region around my mouth is on fire, but I can't stop eating them.
