Takes like hairspray. I just realized that. I took cosmotology so you accidentally get hairspray in the mouth when doing that so I know what it tastes like. Not like I actually drink hairspray or nuttin.

So yeah.. drinking it neat as my roomie forgot the cola. Actually it tastes best with dr pepper or root beer but ah well.

Yeah I'm crazy, but it's a fun crazy. Soon as I finish making my dinner (rice and cream corn) I think I shall go read and go to sleep.

How're you all?

Okay, hairspray when consumed straight up, but make a kama-kazi with it and you've got liquid key lime pie. Yum!

Use that stuff the next time you have a White Russian. Heaven on Earth, I tell you.

Airman Doors, that sounds so wonderful that I may be going to the liquor store tomorrw! Of course, it also sounds like something that I could drink enough of to knock me on my butt, but such is the risk you take with good tastin' liquor.

Now, this is something I've got to try.

My experience with Vanilla Stoli has always been mixed with cola (and the one time I tried to experiment and mixed it with Frangelico--didn't work as well as I had hoped).

But, I think a White Russian would be just... yummy.

OB, you should mix it with butterscotch schnapps and a little creme de cocoa....or chocolate syrup, on a budget. :D

Seriously. Two parts Stoli Vanil, one part butterscotch, one part creme de cocoa...shaken til very cold, poured into chilled martini glass......*makes orgasmic lipsmacking sounds*

I used to work at a martini bar and I invented this for two women who wanted a sweet, smooth, deadly beverage.....they instantly became regulars. You gotta take my advice on this, sister.

:D

Vanil+ginger ale = Creme Soda
Vanil + orange soda = Creamscile

mmm...The only problem is that it's usually a top shelf vodka (OK, not Grey Goose, but still) so it tends to be expensive. Around my parts, having a drink made with Vanil will up the price of the drink $3 or so. Bah.

You can get Vanilla Smirnoff for a bit cheaper if you're on a budget, but I don't like it as much.

Try 2 parts Vanil with one part Godiva liqueur, served up in a cocoa dusted glass. MMMMMMMM.

Very interesting ideas people. I may have to try them when I buy the liquor next time.

This time I don't have two pennies to rub together so I had to make do with what he brought home.

Mostly unrelated - well, only related in that it involves alcohol:

2 parts cream
1 parts Kahlua
1 part Peppermint Schnapps
-- over ice

Tastes just like a Thin Mint. I've heard it referred to as a "Dirty Girl Scout".

Help out a novice (very) mixologist, please. Does your recipe assume putting the Stoli into the freezer and if so, for how long?

Thanks

For how long? Until you're ready to drink it! (This assumes that you keep a bottle of vodka in the freezer at all times.)

From the link in this thread (http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=157571) in GQ:

The martini is a purplish concoction of vanilla vodka and black Sambuca. In the drink-sized version of the black hole, there is no mystery. The "hole" is a black licorice jellybean bobbing at the bottom of the glass.
