My daughter (who is the Boss' #1 Fan) heard this song the other day on the All-Bruce radio station. All Bruce, all the time.

It's at www.nj.com/springsteen/radio (http://www.nj.com/springsteen/radio)

My friends and I recall there was a live version of "Stay" where Bruce Springsteen says "I'd like to bring out the Jackson, Jackson Browne..." And, they would sing "Stay" together.

a) Now, I know about the live version more commonly played on the radio nowadays. But, does anyone, esp. Bruce fans, out there recall this?

b) If so, would anyone know the album title?

People are just CD-centric. Even a tape is an album!

Contrary to popular opinion, the word "album" is still correct. It just means a collection. In this case, a collection of songs. The original usage of "record album" referred to the book-like "volumes" of 78s in which a collection of several 78s were packaged together.

If these were still sold today, I WAG we'd call this a box set.

Wait! Is this a Jackson Browne album, or Bruce?

I'm impressed Cecil's people recall this! I've spoken to many DJs and audiophiles of the classic rock era, and no one had even the slightest recollection of hearing this song!
Thanks a bunch!

Damn I feel old.

Anyway, the "No Nukes" album came out in late 70s or very early 80s. It was a concert at Madison Square Garden with (bear with me):
Doobie Bros., Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, Bruce, CSN, Radio, Poco, Tom Petty, Gil-Scot Heron, James Taylor and Carly Simon, Ry Cooder, Jon Hall, Chaka Khan (I think), and others I'm sure I've forgotten.

The whole thing was a benefit to raise awareness of the dangers of nuclear power, etc. Not being one who wants to freeze and starve in the dark, I'm all for nuclear power, but the album was great.

And that's the No Nukes story.

A little story to add:

Tom Petty had to follow Bruce on stage (lucky guy). Jackson Browne came up to TP and said, "Now don't worry, about it. Its gonna sound like they're booing you, but they're really saying 'BRUUUUUUUUCE.' TP's answer: "What the hell's the difference?"

Thank you for the link! I've been listening to it pretty much non-stop since I read your post, and it is great!

I go there, and nothing happens. Can't find any link to any "radio" station. Help?

Hold it...

Got it. Are there band specific stations for other bands anywhere?

I don't know about other artists doing this, Dave -- but it's a great concept, isn't it?

It'd come in handy right now. My CD player is on the fritz, again. I have the new Flatlanders CD and I can't play it!

I'm in Jimmie Dale withdrawal! My nasal passages are clear. I need some twang, dammit!

Hmm...I must have been hiding under a rock back then. I missed that concert, somehow. It must have been around the Three Mile Island scare, I WAG.
