who out there who seen a picture of Joe Millionaire, Evan Marriott, http://www.fox.com/joem/ .
I'm a guy and not gay, but I find this guy to look like a grease ball. There is no hot factor about him, nor does he even elicit a bit of sex appeal... just the run-of-the-mill rough neck type, grease ball, or simply put nasty .
can someone out there tell me where his good looks are? or explain to me how you find this guy to be appealing?
I know my opinions are my own, but would love to hear what you women have to say, and i guess the men who have opinions too.

"He is a caricature of a handsome man."

I think that he would be good looking if only he wouldn't talk.

I haven't watched the show, nor do I plan on it, but yep, he's handsome all right!

OK, having read this thread (http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=160787) I have to admit, he may be handsome, but not very smart. So much for that fantasy!

He's got a great body, but I don't find him attractive. There's something that's just...not quite right...about him.

He doesn't do anything for me - not only not my type, but something in his facial expressions puts me off.

His body is pretty muscular, if you like that sort of thing. I find his hair distracting and his conversational skills are negligible, from what we've seen.

He looks ok in some still photos, but the moment he moves or speaks, he becomes very unattractive.

Exactly. But I do like the body.

Hate the hair, like the body. The face is ok, nothing too striking about it.

My wife keeps commenting on how she finds him repulsively ugly. Through out the show whenever anyone comments how handsom he is she has to correct them. (Though I'm pretty sure they can't hear her)

I cant hear his accent, so what's his voice like?
I find he has way too much grease in his hair. Maybe it keeps it down but a short hair cut would do the same.

He has a nice enough voice. I can't pick out any specific accent. He doesn't use a whole lot of big words.

The odd thing is that Evan's father is the vice president of a bank, and Evan went to a private military academy. Yet Evan can't hold an intelligent conversation and comes across like a hick.

For those of you who haven't seen them, Evan Marriott's modeling work for the California Muscle (http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/marriott1.html) catalog. Picture 2 leaves just about nothing to the imagination.

Oh. My.
I don't find him attractive either but that second picture kinda startled me...

<puts forefinger along side of nose> Not it! There are a lot of handsome men on TV, but he isn't one of them. I'm sure I'd like him even less if I saw him for a half-hour (or hour?) at a time.

He definitely needs a better haircut, and there's something about his smile that's very off-putting. It's kind of a crooked, almost-sneering smile.

I think he's quite attractive.
But then he opens his mouth, which is the downfall of most men.

His accent is American "Duh." He doesn't seem to have any regional accent and his voice is low but not remarkable, but when he speaks, he sounds really un-polished, un-educated, and just plain dumb.
Do you watch with closed captioning? When he was in the bushes with Sarah last week and Fox subtitled it with "mwah," "slurp," and "gulp," what did the captions say?

He's good looking in the same way that boy band members are attractive: he's "famous".

I think he has an elongated horse looking face and a very bad haircut. The facial elongation would probably go away if he ever shut his trap enough to not catch flies. Seriously, he always seems so dumb that I can't imagine his jaw not constantly being agape. I don't know what they did on the modeling shots but facially he doesn't even look the same to me.
Most folk'll never be on tv
but then again some folk'll
Like Evan the slack jawed yokel.

His eyebrows arch too much. Looks almost semi-evil. Then again, once you hear him talk, all fear disappears, cuz you realize he's not bright enough to be evil.
But OTOH, what if the "dumb guy" thing is just an act? I mean, to kinda see how far these dopey girls will go just to get the guy with the bucks? I think the next reality TV series ought to be a guy who really does have lot of money, but is old and uglier than a baboon.

I think he has an above average face, but his hair would be improved by some kind of hat.
He has bad posture that's accented by those slouchy sweaters he wears, that combined with his height makes him look like a hulking ape.
A cute hulking ape. :)

I don't remember the exact way they phrased it but in a Seinfeld episode they talked about someone who was really good looking sometimes and then later would be hideous... that's how Evan strikes me.
He looks like a Neanderthal to me - once I got that image in my mind, I couldn't see him as handsome anymore. The personality (or lack thereof) might have a lot to do with my opinion).
And yet, I have seen every episode & plan to watch next week's too. Must be the voyeur in me. :)

I like big guys so I liked his size and that is attractive to me, he came onto american idol last night it looked like he towered over the contestants.

He is physically attractive in that stereotypical tall, dark and handsome way, and has a pleasantly deep voice, but he's such an idiot that it overwhelms all of that and makes him totally unattractive.
IMHO, the most revealing thing about that "circumcision line" picture is the characteristically DUH look on his face. He's like a big, dumb dog. Like on his date with Melissa: "I see boobies ... Oh no! Her mouth is still moving! What did I miss?"

I kinda think he looks like a cross between Ken Wahl (from the Wiseguy show) and Mr. Ed.

No captions when there are subs, that time.

I like his hair, but otherwise, not really. At first glance I thought "hey, he's pretty cute" but once I saw how he moved and acted...nope, not really. Especially not with those freaky leers he kept giving the women in the first few episodes.
Oh, and Green Bean, the captions did not say anything during the subtitled parts. Usually with CCing they don't do it when the words on the screen are akin to what's being heard.

yes! that's what i was thinking too... something about his smile as mentioned by Fiver and FairyChatMom, its got this smirk that just irks me, not to mention the grease ball look and the not so good looking eyes.
don't know how people find him attractive but can see the stereotypical "tall, dark and handsome" thing going on for him. If I was female or gay this guy is not the type of guy that would interest me. I'm glad that I'm not the only one put off by his supposed good looks.

I'm with hillbilly queen on the posture. I just want to scream at him when I see how his head hunches forward. I know tall people sometimes adopt that posture but he's old enough to LOSE IT. I makes him look 40% dumber and 75% less attractive to see him lurching around with that hunch. Ugh.
He could be handsome, I think, but I can't see past the creepiness.
