Name of kids book...

Plot of the book:

A Japanese (Chinese? pretty sure he's oriental) kid falls down a well. His name is so painfully long that by the time the younger brother runs home to tell his parents about it and blurt out the name (in it's entirety), the kid nearly drowns.

What is the name of this book, and/or what is the kid's name?

Spelling is off, I'm sure.

Here (http://www.pitt.edu/~dash/tikki.html) is an on-line version of the story, which gives the boy's name as Tikki Tikki Tembo No Sarimbo Hari Kari Bushkie Perry Pem Do Hai Kai Pom Pom Nikki No Meeno Dom Barako. In this version, he drowned.

That's the one. I was confusing his name with Rikki Tikki Tavi, the weasel or muskrat or whatever it is that ate the snakes.
