On a recent epsiode of "South Park," Cartman was entered in a spelling bee, so his mother ordered a system called "Hooked on Monkey Phonics." It consisted of a cassette, flash cards, and a monkey that would play the drums along with the tape. The flash cards included words like "chair" and "there."

When Cartman got to the spelling bee, he was given some preposterous imaginary word. Freezing up, he turns towards the wings of the stage and says, "Come on, Phonics Monkey--drum!" I just about fell off the couch laughing, and thought I'd toss it in.

pldennison, you've made another man happy. I was wondering about that quote too, and thought it came out of your (demented) mind.

But to me it sounds funnier if you don't know what it signifies. I was imagining several different meanings.

A truly classic episode.

I also loved the "Kiss? What is this...kiss?" Star Trek parody they threw in there.
