OSLO (Reuters) - Norwegian software group Opera took a swipe at U.S. giant Microsoft on Friday by issuing a an Internet browser that converts text on Microsoft's Web Site into the nonsense language of a popular television puppet. ... An Opera executive said the aim was to protest what Opera alleges is Microsoft's practice of making software that prevents users of the Opera browser -- a rival of Microsoft's own Internet Explorer -- from viewing pages correctly.
Opera (http://www.opera.com/) is an excellent Internet browser. It can be considered one of the most HTML compliant (http://www.w3.org/) browser on the market. However Microsoft didn't take kindly to the competition (http://my.opera.com/dev/discussion/openweb/20030206/). So Opera decided to take it all in good fun (http://www.opera.com/pressreleases/en/2003/02/14/).
Opera has released its Swedish Chef's Bork (ftp://ftp.opera.com/pub/opera/custom/win/bork/ow32enen2656b_bork.exe) edition.
It's a riot! The Help/About info is also in Bork.
Give Opera a try in either Bork or Regular Windows Edition (http://www.opera.com/download/index.dml?opsys=Windows&lng=en&platform=Windows). Or any of many other editions or languages (http://www.opera.com/download/index.dml?opsys=Windows&lng=en&platform=Windows).
Try it if for no other reason than it comes loaded with The Straight Dope in the bookmarks!
