The Parent's Television Council has a political cartoonist do gags toward their standpoint. Most of them are very funny, But...

What does this mean? (http://www.parentstv.org/PTC/cartoons/main.asp)

If it weren't on a site that was an advocate for clean TV and the return of the Family Hour™, I would think it would mean that Pony is doing so poorly, that the only way they would be able to sell shoes is to give them away for free. But that's not it.

The two women look like they could be prostitutes. Is Pony currently using a provocative TV campaign I'm not aware of?

Is Pony an actual brand name? Maybe they're just griping about the pandering tone of a lot of advertising.

I think it's supposed to a comment about using sex to sell a product-- but I agree it's not very clear or effective.

Bill O'Reilly made a big stink of this (which I believe was first reported in the New York Times)

The Pony company, which is run by a Hollywood talent agency called The Firm, has hired some porn stars who appear in their shoe commercials, if you can believe it.

The big ad campaign, set to begin in March and will feature our pal Jenna Jameson among others. The company hoping that hard core sex will lead to the purchase of sneakers.

(of course, i watch TV like 12 hours a day, and have yet to see this commercial...)

Couldn't they find a porn star with a less annoying voice and/or a more real body than Jenna Jameson? :( Bad shoes, unhealthy attitudes about sex, and screwed up beauty standards . . .

There was a Puma ad posted in Cafe (that apparantly got removed) that showed a scantily clad woman kneeling before a man and there was clearly a simulated cum shot on her leg as tho it dribbled down from a blow job. Their faces (and his bits) weren't shown, and both of them were wearing Puma athletic shoes.

I don't think the ad actually went into circulation, but maybe someone got ahold of it and decided to parody it?

NoClueBoy, that ad was a parody itself, as expalined on Snopes (http://www.snopes.com/photos/puma.asp). I'm wondering if the Puma Pranksters were playing off the Pony idea, or vice versa.
