View Full Version : Plans for April Fool's Day
03-11-2003, 05:44 PM
It's 3 weeks away and if being a SDMB poster means anything, it means: plan ahead.
I'll be using Google to cook up a prank for the gullible.
Past coups have included messages left on answering machines and letters from fake agencies. I'd like to find a reason that Educational Testing Service has to re-state my daughter's SAT results but am missing the appropriate envelope for delivery.
Past successful practical jokes would be welcome.

Much to my dismay, I actually have to behave myself on April Fool's Day. The next level of the Model Judiciary (mock trial) competition occurs on that day. That's right, I'm going to be spending April Fool's Day in the Virginia State Supreme Court attempting to uphold an appeal in front of several real Justices. Somehow, I don't think they would appreciate my practical jokes.

"The court rules in favor of the plaintiff. April fool!"

lessee... Told my boss one year I was pregnant, and I would have it soon. (I'm fat, I can carry that off) He nearly died. :D
Next year, Boss told me he was leaving to work for the FBI (He had just had 2 weeks vacation - he said it was field training) errrrrrrr
Called my mom last year and told her Mr Vena was leaving me - she said she never like him  Note to Self - no calling mom this year! :smack:
Duct taped my boss in his office (he shouldn't leave his door closed all the time!!)

April Fool's Day in only three weeks?! I can't believe I wasted the wasabi chips on an ordinary tuesday! Gonna have to mark my calendar special so this sort of thing doesn't happen again next year. Someone mentioned duct tape, they'll never suspect duct tape after the wasabi incident, so off to my lab full o'evil I go...

One year I was with my GF in her car(who I'd been seeing for about 5yrs) and we see an ex-GF of mine walk by, who was clearly pregnant.
She made some sorta comment (about my ex),which I dont recall
at which point I look at her, with a very serious expression and say: "yeah, she want me to take a paternity test"
She paused for a second looks at me and sez: "WHAT?!!" Of course I say "April fool" She says: "NOT FUNNY!"
I know, I know I'm going to hell

I'm thinking of coming out of the closet this April fools day. My family lives back in the US and hasn't met any of my girlfriends in the last 11 years. Plus I rarely take photos of anything, so they haven't seen me with a GF either. I have a friend who's willing to pose as a boyfriend.

April Fool's Day is my birthday... and I have no idea what I'll be doing. Probably drink myself into a stupor, feel sorry for myself, call Astrogirl (in Korea) at some unGodly hour and wake her up... the usual.
Oddly enough, no one has ever played an April Fool's joke on me; and I would think I'd be a prime target (it being my B'day and all...)!
Actually, I'm giving serious thought to buying myself an expensive B'day present... a telescope, an electric guitar, or a nice espresso machine. However, I have spent a BUNCH of cash in the past few weeks moving from S. Korea to the US, so maybe not...

I'm gonna get a fake tatoo with my girlfriends name on it then show it to her, it will read something like "(her name) for ever!" I also plan on getting it in HUGE letters so it will look really tacky. I can't wait to see the look on her face when she thinks her boyfriend has gone psycho.
This joke would go over even better if we were just starting out on our second date or something.

Shakes -- cute idea, especially if you misspell her name. I once had a g.f. wake me up during a nap so I pretended to be talking in my sleep -- about the previous girlfriend.
I thought about sending a hoax virus notification to relatives -- just like the sulfnback.exe notifications that I routinely receive from friends and relatives. However, if I told most of these people to erase command.com, they'd do it and it wouldn't be funny.
There used to be a service on the web that would send out official-looking letters. Had one sent from the "condominium association" to a friend re: failing doggie cleanup duties.
Voice mail, e-mail, faked photographs, pager messages -- technology gives us such a range of vehicles for April Fool's Day!

My friend Emily is obsessed with the band Good Charlotte, and they're coming to play here on May 21. I plan on telling her that the show got cancelled. "What? You weren't listening to the radio last night? Yeah, Lazlo (the DJ who's on at night at the radio station we listen to) said so. Something about Benji and Joel disowning each other..."
She's going to kill me.
I don't have anything else planned yet, actually.

The cool part is, i bet you can actually get Lazlo to say so. I call him up every now and then just to mutter incoherently back and forth. Maybe Ill mention it to him I think itd be funny.

1 week to go, and this is all you people can come up with? Somehow, I expected a lot more out of you deviates.
My wife, (mid-30's) works with this really knockout 20-something blonde. I'd occasionally tease her about fooling around with her, it was kind of a running joke. This was back when Jerry Springer was most popular, (?) y'know, back when they actually let them beat the sh*t outta each other on TV. I made up some official looking Springer stationary, and concocted this long, drawn out invitation to a show that they were going to be doing entitled "Honey, I've got a secret". I went into great detail, even told them what they would be paid for their appearance, and also, I had a friend who was a travel agent, make me up some airline tickets, and make arrangements at a Chicago hotel, and even included a reference on their travel itinerary to Jerry Springer's limousine waiting at the airport to pick them up.
Then, I Fedex-ed both packages (with a Chicago return address) to the office where they both worked. Hilarity ensued. The blonde was actually disappointed when she found out it was a hoax, 'cos she was looking forward to a trip.
I need something to top it this year. Did I mention April 1 is my anniversary also? So, any more ideas?

I like the fake tattoo thing. Where can you get a fake tattoo?

Try a Google search for tattoo inkjet paper. You can actually design and print out our own temporary tattoos :)
I think I'll do one of my wife's name on my back, misspelled.

I am spending a small fortune here:
my favorite thus far is the fake poop you attach to your shoe.

We've got the departmental Open Day (for prospective students and the like) on April 1st. We're currently thinking of a spoof poster, showing evidence for aliens etc. Should be amusing, if we can pull it off!

I'd understood that when Richard Branson (Virgin Airlines) was in his balloon-flying phase, he created a UFO balloon and landed in London in March 1989. Any good pictures of that?
