View Full Version : Apparently, all problems in Georgia have been solved

Otherwise, why would this bill (http://www.accessatlanta.com/ajc/metro/politics/0303/26tea.html) be in front of the Georgia State House.

I don't care if they are just joking around. There is either something more constructive they could be doing or give us a tax rebate for the time they have wasted on this.

Yeah, this is where out tax money goes? How many man-hours were wasted on "trying to bring levity" to the bloody government.

Feh. Crapheads.

Unsweetened Iced Tea? That's just wrong.

I'm not usually in favor of the death penalty, but for unsweet tea, it wouldn't be out of the question...

As a Georgian, I contend that the time that they spent supporting this bill is equally as frivolous as the amount of time you spent concerned about it. K Thx.

Sweet tea?

As a voter, I have to disagree. I do not think that one can take too seriously such an obvious waste of resources by elected officials.

Actually, I hate unsweetened iced tea. It's almost impossible to sweeten it to my liking, because sugar blends better with hot water.

So give me sweetened tea.

As long as the bill doesn't actually pass, I'd rather they spent their time on this than on the things they normally do - dreaming up ways of interfering with my life.

Well, if it wasn't about sweated iced-tea, I would be outraged. But really, unsweatend tea is an abomination, and this law is fine by me.

maybe it will be filibustered?

Atl. resident checking in:

I usually do a 'half and half', since the sweet stuff is TOO sweet.

My cow-orker has a diabetic problem, and doesn't need this. He gets the unsweetened.

This is almost as stupid as the flag thing. Thanks for the soapbox.

Hate to be a spelling bitch, but "unsweatened tea" is hysterical. :)

I doubt this will make you feel any better, but the Illinois state legislature just unanimously passed a bill that made popcorn the official state snack.

The whole thing was engineered by a class of second-graders who proposed the bill to see how government works. It's a sweet idea, but to actually act it out seems a bit frivolous.

Do you know how many votes that bill won those guys? probably worth a $10,000 donation.

Well, unsweetened tea is just colored water, so I have to agree with them there. As a native Georgian, it is a bit disconcerting when a restaurant doesn't serve sweet tea. It's almost like a restaurant not serving Coke.

OTOH, Oh..My..God... Don't they have anything better to do!?

True. And most likely none of them want to see a negative ad campaign come next election that accuses them of being anti-snack. :) Or anti-second grader, for that matter.

If you guys think this is bad, one word: Louisiana. Makes GA look like a day at the park.

I think these legislators are absolutely correct. When I go to a Georgia restaurant and order tea, I expect sweet tea. If I wanted crayon water, I can get that in Ohio.

It's early, and I've barely started on my first cup of coffee, so maybe I'm being seriously wooshed here.

BUT - some of you are actually in favor of legislating the sugar content of iced tea?

Say it ain't so. Tell me to look up. C'mon, guys, give me hope for the future of mankind.

I tend to go with unsweetened tea. Why? Diabetic. Also, many restaurants here in Atlanta make it far sweeter than I would want anyway.

In reference to the OP, there is in fact nothing more important for the General Assembly to concern itself with during the few months that it's actually in session. (Except for the state budget crisis, the various developing environmental disasters, the abysmal state of indigent defense, and a few other items.)

And we might be having a referendum on whether to change the stupid fucking state flag again. Yippy!

In GA they are wrangling over the controversial "saturation point provision." Traditionally in GA that is the level at which sugar is served in tea.

GA has dealt with the thorny dildo issue. On to tea. Yes, I said "thorny dildo."

Coming from South Dakota, where we NEVER saw tea already sweetened served in ANY restaurant, it was disconcerting (to say the least) to be in Goldsboro NC and get served tea that was so sweetened as to be almost slushy with all the sugar in it.

:bleaaah:

And I LOVE unsweetened tea in the summer.

What's worse? That they introduced the bill, or that we're talking about it?

Earthworm Jim
03-27-2003, 12:43 PM
That they introduced it. At least we're only wasting our own time and money.

Of course, one could argue that anything they did would be a waste of the taxpayers time and money, in which case my argument falls apart fast.

I never realized how fucking picky people were about iced tea.

I suppose the next law will be that popcorn must be buttered.
