One: Directed by Baz Luhrmann. Starring Leo DiCaprio.
Two: Directed by Oliver Stone. Starring Colin Farrell.
Both apparently due out in 2004.
As a student of Ancient Greek history, this simultaneously excites me and fills me with unspeakable terror. I think the Stone one has a chance of being decent. But Baz Luhrman? Leonardo freakin DiCaprio? No good can come of that particular combination...

Hmm. I'm neutral towards Luhrmann. I got nothing against DiCaprio, but I just don't see him as Alexander the Great. Colin Farrell I don't really know, but I despise Oliver Stone.
I don't hold much hope for either of these pictures.

It isn't the first time (http://us.imdb.com/Details?0117509). *shudder*
The editing in Luhrman's films can be defined as 'death by a thousand cuts'.

Leo actually is closer to what A the G really looked like. Stone is the far superior director, though.
I wonder if either movie will address Alexander's homosexuality.

I saw Farrell on a talk show (Letterman?) where he talked about shooting same-sex sex scenes for Stone's movie. Don't know about DiCaprio. I hope he does, if only in anticipation of how Frank DeCaro is going to review it.
