What country in the Western World has the highest crime rate?

I suspect it is South Africa. But I await someone with more than just an educated guess to answer.

While we do have an extremely high crime rate, I don't think we're part of the western world (which I classify as Europe and North America).

Looking at it more closely, it doesn't take into account the seriousness of the crime, so your question might have many answers depending on what exactly you want to know.

For instance, murder rates given here (http://members.easyspace.com/football/2006/crime2ld.html) put the UK pretty low.
