Rilchiam leaps into Y2K!

We finally got our new computer hooked up! We have a zip drive and a CD rewriteable and a sound card and everything! That may not seem like much to some of you, but our old 'puter was pathetic. It was old and in disrepair; we had no sound, many links were unaccessable, or only accessable after five or ten minutes of loading, links didn't change color when clicked on, and the modem was so slow, it got to the point where it would have been faster to carve a message on a stone tablet and throw it across the ocean, like in B.C.. It would take at least sixty seconds for each page to load; more if it was a "Reply" page, and the tower would make these grinding noises like there was an elf sitting in there eating potato chips.

There were manny manny topics I wanted to reply to, but so often, I declined to, because I just didn't have the time to wait for the Reply page to load, then wait for the reply to go through, then backtrack to the previous message and pick up where I left off. (I read chronologically, regardless of topic.) But now I am in the zone, and I am going to make my voice HEARD!

Congratulations! Having a zip drive and sound makes a ton of difference. That does mean that from now on you have to do backups, though.

And if your ISP offers DSL access, and it's in your budget, you might want to try that too! I might be trying DSL soon.

But don't forget your stone-carving skills, because you might need them when the real Y2K hits.

This will be post 482, I believe. Jeez, you don't know how out of the loop I felt, watching you guys celebrate all your post milestones! I was like the one kid in the class who doesn't have cable. Funny thing, I noticed when I was getting close to 420, and I meant to start a thread titled "My Dope Post", but I forgot. Anyway, 1K here I come!
