I'll be around but I may have to use my weekend pass on Sunday for Dublin's first outing in the Championship and subsequent pints.

I'll pass my mobile number onto curlychick and jjimm so if you need to find me, contact them.
I'm thinking maybe late on Friday night for drinks or food then drinks on Saturday.

Hey ruadh, I watched the match. Porto were a load of dirty whingeing bastards.
Annie, count me out on theatricals. I don't do theatre.

Should you ever have occasion to visit the US, don't use the phrase "Bank Holiday." Older Americans would take it to refer to the closing of banks during the Depression of the early 1930's. And they never reopened. Unlike the current "bank holidays."

Tentatively, let's meet up on Friday night at around 9pm somewhere in town.
I shall be drinking alcoholic bevs. Oh, yes.
And, can someone get a hold of the loveable yojimbo and mr and madame micilin?
What about a night of carousing? Anyone up for a disco? Woo hoo.
yojimbo

The lovable yojimbo will be about and drinking alcoholic bevs aswell. I rearrange my insanly busy schedule ie. IŽll tape "Have I got news for you" ;)
IŽll point this out to micilin.

Yay! I can't wait to see yojimbo again! This time, I'll bring a coat. I just now, by accident, typed yobimbo. It works. I hope it sticks.
9ish somewhere in town on Friday the 30th May is the tentative plan. You should have my mobile by now, 'bimbo, as I asked micilin to pass it on to you.

Bump.
Where are all these new Dublin people?
I promise, no one will bite you.
yojimbo

Well if I'm not getting bitten, I'm not going ;)
Anahita
05-26-2003, 09:36 AM
Well, then.
I suggest you start a new thread inviting Irish Dopers to visit this thread and call it, "Bite me, Paddy." I suggest you put it in the Pit.

Anahita, we set up an email ganglist, why don't you send me an email (trhough my profile) and I'll send you an invite mail back.
I'm rather new (not in Dublin, bu on this board).
Since I'm not Irish, and I'm alone in thew office right now, when's the next bank holiday?
We've got a get together on 5th June, I think....
weekends are usually off limits for me, as it's the only time I get to see the bf, and pubs aren't really where we want to spend the precious little time we have together...
You're from Galway, right?
Anahita
05-26-2003, 10:31 AM
Ganglist? Hrm....not sure if my marriage vows will allow for that!
:)
I am in Galway and we'll be getting together this Friday night, May 30th. Bank holiday is the first Monday of each month, this week, it's the 2nd of June.
Email on the way!
elfje
05-26-2003, 10:35 AM
mmm. too bad, won't be able to make it, then.
a pity, but we'll meet, eventually.
And the ganglist is not as scary as it sounds :)
I promise we'll be gentle.
send you a reply asap.

I wish. You've just been lucky with the time you moved here.
Here's a list. Just weed out the US ones.

OOps, I meant, this MONTH. It's not every month? We get so many days off work, as teachers, it's hard to know which are real holidays and which are teacher ones.
We are LUCKY.
:)
elfje
05-26-2003, 10:45 AM
yup, but then again, as a teacher you need your holidays.
Teaching ain't for the faint hearted (my mother's a teacher).
And to answer your previous question: I'm a belgian national, from Flanders, the city of Brugge (bruges) to be exact.
So, no, not an American
:)

Since my last suggestion, elsewhere, was met with a wall of silence, apart from the lovely jjimm, (How you doin'?), I shall now proceed to sulk.
Naah, not really, I have to go and see some pesky customers soon, and won't be back in the office again this week.
Anahita, I will call you tonight.

Well how about O'Donoghues then? Or somewhere quiet. Coz Friday nite in town is always mental, full of smurfs* or skangers.
*Dublin office workers who have removed their jackets and ties, revealing a multitude of blue shirts.

05-29-2003, 05:11 AM
Well I didn't reply coz I was happy with O'Donoghues.
There's a work piis up that night but I'll drink the free pints and meet up at 9pm in the Pub. That probably includes ToF and micilin and B I'll mail around my number JIC

hey, you cheeky chick!
I happen to be not available this Friday (unfortunately), so i thought it wise not to confuse the issue, and keep schtum about the whole venue thing, as i'm not coming anyways!
Next time I shall endeavour to confuse, upset, and obfuscate all your efforts to decide on a venue.
Ha!

Ok, tomorrow.
I still have laundry, packing, cleaning, cooking and generally domestic things to do.
I just want to go sit in the sun and read a book!
9pm tomorrow so.
O'Donahughes is it? And address? (So I can tell Shazz)
jjimm

O'Donoghues is on College Green, next to (actually part of) Doyle's.

Well, elfje, I checked. It's about 800 bucks rt. Not as bad as I expected. But 15 to 18 hours in coach is a bit much for this old man. Sweet of you to offer, though. :)
I'll drink a pint of local brew in one of the brew pubs here in Berkeley and think of the fun you're all having. I don't get over to Dublin (CA) much.
You guys have fun.

hey, at least you've got the weather, over there.
It's overcast here, and not even all that warm
and this for June (well, nearly)

Thanks for a great time, everyone.
Sorry, but I think it's safe to say, I'm as much of a geeky spaz when I'm sober. Until this medication is finished, I can't drink (much) so you'll just have to carry the extra load for me.
micilin will one day remember his digicam and we'll post photos. Until then, you'll all just have to GUESS about how gorgeous jjimm's and micilin's ladees are!
