What is the deal with the Art Bell/George Noory phone lines?

I've listed to talk radio for many, many years, and they're about the only ones that do this. Most radio programs, if they give the caller's location at all, give the town that the caller gives the screener. Noory, and Bell before him, just gives the "line" which can be "West of the Rockies," "East of the Rockies," or "The Wild Card" line. What's up with that?

Just a WAG: Because they know that the real loonies, the interesting loonies, won't come out of the woodwork if they think the CIA can find out where they live.

To the best of my knowledge nobody actually knows what the wildcard line is. There is also a first time caller line I think, as well as an international line. What I want to know is what do I call if I live in the Rockies?

Eastern US: 1-800-825-5033 (toll free)
First time caller: 1-818-501-4721
Wild Card line: 1-818-501-4109 (anyone can call)


WildCard, I guess, would mean people in the East or West could call on it.

But when someone want to truly make a l-o-o-o-o-o-n-g distance call, which number do they dial?????:D

Well, it would have started because Art Bell did not screen the lines. Thus, he only knew which line they were were on. Not where they were. I've heard Art hang up on people who called the First Time Callers' line or other special lines who didn't qualify.

I don't know if Noory screens.
