Heck, even Disney realizes this -- their animated Tarzan movie was IMO a complete rip-off of George. Follow the bouncing logic here:

Tarzan = George
Jane = Ursela
Porter = Fella
Terk the gorilla = Ape
Tantor the elephant = Shemp

The correlation was cinched for me when Tarzan had Tantor the elephant climbing aboard a ship via the anchor chain. WTF???

rjung--I agree. I've read the Tarzan books and when I saw Tarzan (the Disney Version) I squelched in my seat and thought "God, if Burroughs could see this he'd be spinning in his little grave."

The Tarzan of the Burroughs books would win hand's down. However, the Tarzan of the movies less so and the one from the latest Disney flick - ::SHRUG:::

It's hard to say, because George is more cartoony. I'm sure the real Tarzan would be killed if a giant boulder fell on his head, but George would just get a lump, a stupid look on his face, fall over, and then be fine as soon as someone came over and asked "Are you alright?"

Tarzan is a much better fighter, but George has that whole "clumsy luck" thing going for him, which generally wins out in the end. I'd have to go with George as well.
