Reminds me of a story I saw on VH-1 awhile back... the road manager (I think) of some musician whose name I forgot made a drunken deal with him to sprinkle his ashes on a desert... so he stole the body after his death and burned it, casket and all, somewhere out in Cali...

Turned out, there was no California law against theft of a body so they convicted him of grand theft for stealing the casket instead!
