Old MMO Space Game

I recall an old space MMO or at the very least large online game apparently abandoned by its publisher and developer as too complex, after it failed quickly, but was run by fans for some time, and may still be. Does anyone remember the name of this game? I have no details.

I sooo loved Allegiance. Once saw 3 light crusiers with full gun crews smoke a home sector like it was nobodys business.

I always thought it would be cool if a large network gaming place picked it up as a pet game to run tournaments and such. I would think the revenue potential for a 50+ player game that could easily run a 5-6 hour session would be awesome.

It is probably Subspace. Also known as Continuum now days. Check out Subspacehq.net for more details. I play on Extreme Games some times.
