That's what I think anyway. Hasn't Cecil made enough off of the sale of his books that he could afford to pay these people?

I agree in principle, but I don't think Cecil, or the Chicago Reader should pay. Cecil absolutely hates coming here (judging by his occasional visits, which seem to be some sort of contractual obligation more than anything else). I think WE should pay the Moderators. We get all the enjoyment out of this place. What about banner ad money? I doubt there's any.

I say the moderators should get to keep the best 10% of the inspired ;) thoughts that we type here, as a commission. What they can do with those, the hell if I know! Sell them on eBay, maybe? :D

We'd better specify which 10% -- I don't want to end up with a sackful of Phaedrus's "thoughts."

David, RTF said "best" 10% of "inspired" thoughts. Obviously there's no risk of winding up with any of Phaedrus's!

I highly resemble that remark!

A troll tax? $.10 ($3.59 Canadian) for each trollish remark, $20.00 for each troll-inspired topic.

Hm. Konrad would have his wages garnisheed for the next ten years, and Phaedrus would be in debtors' prison.

I don't wanna get paid. What do you think of that? I already got a job, and this is for fun. If I got paid for it, it would be like homework assigned to be read as opposed to pleasure reading. I do this for fun.

David - I'm all for the moderators deciding which 10% to collect. Jill, with posts like this comprising your compensation (if you so choose), how can it possibly feel like work?! ;)

Now, Jill, there's nothing wrong with getting paid to do things you think are fun. In fact, I'd rather get paid for doing things I think are fun than doing my regular job. :)

My job is fun, too. If this site was making a million bucks, then yeah - maybe I'd expect some kind of kickback. But I did get a staff mug.

And how do we know this site isn't making a million bucks and Cecil isn't just keeping it to himself? Hmmmm...

I don't believe Cecil is mkaing much off this iste or the books. I mean, if he were earning what he deserves, do you think he would dress like that? I don't think he's bought a new shirt since the Reagan administration...

Krispy, if you really feel that way, you can mail your check to the attention of Ed Zotti at the Chicago Reader, and he'll be happy to distribute it amongst the staff.

Yeah...right. While I'm at it maybe I should mail checks to Xerox and IBM too since I use their products. Lord knows big business needs my check to help pay their staff...

Yeah, don't spend that nickel all in one place. Save some for your retiement.

You mean you've actually SEEN Cecil????? *aghast* I thought Cecil went to great lengths to maintain anonymity and secrecy!

So, uh, what does he look like? Got a pic?

And, BTW, I'm sure Cecil is doing pretty well financially. I don't want to guess at his annual income, but I'm sure the Chicago Reader treats him pretty well, what with all the money they've made by syndicating The Straight Dope for other newspapers.

Naw, that was probably just a picture of Ed Zotti.

Actually, I think the Moderators should be charged a fee.

Yes, Cyberian ... we know how YOU feel.

Which puts "Krispy Original" in the electric chair, I suppose.
