Here (http://www.wtcsitememorial.org/finalists.html) are the finalists for the plans for a WTC victims' memorial. My favorite is Suspending Memory (http://www.wtcsitememorial.org/fin6_mod.html).

I rather like Garden of Lights (http://www.wtcsitememorial.org/fin0.html). I'm not sure why but that one appeals to me--after that, I like Suspended Memory.

Suspending Memory is nice, but I like Votives in Suspension (http://www.wtcsitememorial.org/fin5.html) the best. The other six don't do anything for me.

Sorry, but I think Suspending Memory really bites. Looks like a mess made by a toddler.
I'd give the vote for Dual Memory, with Lower Waters a close second.
I can't believe that's butter!

Reflecting Absense is just about the same as an idea I had, so I identify with this design the most.

Reflecting Absence is the most appropriate, imo.
I favor Garden of Lights (http://www.wtcsitememorial.org/fin0.html).
Though it's not a major component of every design, I'm really turned off by the oft-repeated "wall of names" concept. It's beautifully done and meaningful concept--already executed at the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial Wall in D.C. While I understand and, in fact, feel the need to somehow symbolize each of the lives lost...I think there are other ways to do it, such as the concept behind Garden of Lights.
I guess I just know that I tend to walk past, even ignore, traditional bronze memorial statues becuase they're everywhere. I'd hate for the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial Wall or even the WTC site to have the same reaction in 50 years.
I would vote for Garden of Lights as well. There is something about the contrast of darkness and light in the design that is very gripping.
It'll be an unpopular view I'm sure, but I think they're all pretty bad.

I'm excited about Reflecting Absence, but I'm a bit biased... the designer is a good friend of mine.
Glad to hear that others like it too, LunaSea and Joe K.

Reflecting Absence has a really goofy name, but it's my favorite because it makes a point of preserving the footprint of the towers. Ground Zero has been a potent visual since the attacks, and I think any memorial should preserve some of that. There should always be a hole of some sort there.
