Welp, this weekend my hard drive gave up the ghost. It started making this horrifying grrrr-CHUNK,
grrrr-CHUNK, grrrr-CHUNK noises. I re booted win2k, and got an “stop” error. Tried to save what I could to another (smaller) drive but had no access. Format. grrrr-CHUNK grrrr-CHUNK grrrr-CHUNK. Then when it was trying to recover all the lost clusters during format it started sounding like a marble was knocking around in there. Bummer. I lost lots of cool stuff. I didn’t have any real back ups of the stuff I had collected over the years as I have no CD burner (or I would have). One thing I am going to miss is my bookmark file. I had so much neat stuff in there. Then it occurred to me most of the links I had I picked up around here. So here is my request. Please send me your bookmarks! Further, all the collective cool links we have between us would make one heck of a reference set, so all of us could pick up a full set. BTW if you want to participate, but don’t want to code out/explain a bunch of links just e-mail me a copy of your book marks. When I get it all organized, I will post a link back to it here and any one who wants a copy can have one. Waddia say? So... they were organized something like the following: (in order of my memory – Oh, and I can find my own porn sites thanks)

REAL NEWS: real news sites, cnn, Ruters, sites in the UK and Australia, news radio stations. Etc.

NEWS PARODYS: the onion and sites like that.

STUFF TO READ: On line magazines, interesting articles and LOOONG archives for bus rides.

SKEPTICAL: skeptical inquirer type sites, debunk myths (good for debates)

REFRENCE: Dictionaries, measurement converters, science and technology, urban legends, religious info, maps, weather – serious stuff you might need in GD ;-)

NUT JOB/WACOS: Sites where wacos actually believe what they are saying, conspiracies, UFOs etc

NUT JOB/PARODY: Sites that make fun of nut jobs, the Nigerian scam conference, why William Shatner Should be my friend, you get the Idea

HUMOR: Joke a day, Dave Barry, National lampoon things like that.

SOFTWARE-GAMES: game sites and game down loads.

SOFTWARE-UTILITIES: shareware/freeware libraries, drivers, - for when you need that certain text editor.

SECURITY: Norton virus updates, virus hoax and info, fire walls, spy-ware cleaners etc.

COMPUTING: all legitimate and non legitimate info about computers, sites, articles books, 2600 lore - stuff like that.

TIME WASTERS: On line fun stuff: on line bubble wrap, Weeble and bob. JAVA games, Are you a geinius: take this test – you get the idea.

ENTERTAINMENT: movie reviews, ect.

OTHER COOL STUFF: stuff that is just to cool to not have in your book marks but doesn’t fit any where else.

That’s the best I can remember, feel free to add a category. I think with the help of the SDMB, we could build one hell of an essential bookmark library! This one I will take to work and put on a CD!

Thanx for your help , Janx!

Wow, what a gold mine! The front page will put me on the road to book mark recovery on the
NUT JOB/WACO category alone! Wooo Hooo! What fun! Thanks!
The others are cool, but this one leaves quite the impression!
