Question on Inuyasha

So I have been catching some episodes of Inuyasha lately...................I never saw it from the begiining though but I have a bit of an understanding of what is going on.

My questions is this though.............in the either the opening or closing credits (can't recall correctly right now) there's this dude with this piece of fur on his shoulder. He's got white hair and you see him circle the earth from outer space on a red cloud. Who is this? What's his relation to Inuyasha? Has he shown up yet? Or is he like the endboss?

That would be Sesshomaru, Inu-Yasha's half-brother. I don't know what "shown up yet" refers to, since I don't know what episodes you're currently watching, but he shows up relatively early in the series and makes semi-regular appearances thereafter.

He is proud of his full demon heritage and contemptuous of humans and half-breeds like Inu-Yasha, whom he really really wants dead. He wants the Tetsusaiga (Inu-yasha's big sword), and first showed up when Inu-Yasha was looking for it. However, Sesshomaru can't use it since it only releases its true power when used to help humans, something Sesshomaru would never think to do (at least until later in the series). Sesshomaru is a lot more powerful than Inu-Yasha, but the sword acts as an equalizer, forcing Sesshomaru to resort to sneakier ways of bringing his brother down.
