BBC NEWS | Europe | Banned airlines fly from UK (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/3376643.stm)

In the wake of the Flash Airlines crash on Saturday, it has been revealed that Swiss authorities banned the airline from their country because of poor safety records. Swiss authorities say there are 23 other banned planes, but they refuse to release the names of the airlines, citing confidentiality laws and a "gentleman's agreement."

Should lists of banned airlines be released by European countries? Would it help to inform the public, or would it only worry travelers needlessly?

And a GQ: Does the U.S. have a list of planes and airlines banned from U.S. soil, and if so, is that list public?
