My first daughter was born at 6:30 AM on 3/25/04. She weighs in at 7 pounds 10 ounces and is 20.5 inches long. Mother and child are healthy after a forceps delivery.

I haven't ever really started an MPSIMS gloating thread, so I thought this would be one of the few times where it may be justified. I paid my 5 bucks, I'm entitled to at least one gloat every year.

She's super cute, big puffy cheeks, and kind of looks like a rabbit. Which is funny because neither my wife's nor my family is prone to puffy cheeks. But she totally has my messed-up ears so paternity is not an issue... :)

Congrats! Just do Mom a favor and let her sleep a few hours when you get home.

And a watch. I mean really, who shows up at six-thirty in the morning, eh?

Just kidding. Congrats edwino, and may she never spit up in your mouth. Unless, of course, you get it on videotape, in which case you may be eligible for The Straight Dope's Funniest Home Videos grand prize of... <cue drumroll>

Babies are great. Despite the pooping. And the barfing. And the crying.

Wait, why are babies great??

Oh yeah, the precious little hands, the happy cooing noises, the unconditional love, and the adventure of discovering who your little one will become.

Congratulations to you. I'm sure she's really something. When do we get pics?

Thanks everyone for the kind wishes. Mom and I got home Friday and we have been doing the eight-on eight-off thing. We have been getting fair amounts of sleep. Baby is a little fussy but mom's milk hasn't come in yet, so it is to be expected.

The baby is named Veronica, but we call her Ronnie after my wife's late father.

I love the honesty babies bring to the table. They'll let you know right up front whether or not you've got manboobs.

Congradulations edwino. That's wonderful news and we're very happy for you. You and mommy have every right to be proud.

Congrats, Edwino !

She's a lucky kid -- she's got wonderful parents, and she'll always have someone to help her with her science homework :D

Don't worry, the puffy cheeks disappear around the second instar.

Ah, my daughter just turned 16 months. Just wait until the first time she says "Daddy". Oh, and I just loved how her little toes would grab my fingers when she was newborn. And how her little hands would wave around like a sea anemone...
