Or something like that. Specifically, I'm interested in finding some landscape artists, particularly those who paint scenes that are devoid of evidence of human habitation. I like the paintings of the Hudson River School artists, especially those who had a more realistic style. Any suggestions?

How about Bierstadt? I'm not sure whether he was part of the Hudson River School proper, but he does a lot of stuff in that vein that's even more devoid of human habitation than Cole et al, esp. western US landscapes like mountains from Oregon and Yosemite, etc.

I'm no art expert, but perhaps Winslow Homer's later work would fit the bill.
