We eloped. Didn't tell a soul, not even close family (though I supposed I have to tell my mother soon). Just went down to the County Clerk's office, paid the fee and did the deed.
I'm very happy.

Well, it's my third marriage and his second so this seemed like the best way. Our kids are almost grown and there are no plans for more.....ever.
Trunk Thanks. (And thanks for not pointing out my typo in the OP. That'll teach me not to preview) It was a bit surreal but now that it's sinking in we're very happy.

Much congratulations! :) :) :)
Aside:
There seem to be a lot of wedding and baby announcements in the past few months. Is it time to start up another round of the Doper Dating Service, to help add to the list?

Snooooopy Who told?
Casey1505 Well, after the ceremony it was lunch time and since niether of us had much breakfast we were starved so we headed to a nearby Irish Pub where we had a couple of margaritas and some lunch to celebrate. Then we went home and made each other very, very, very happy ;) for a couple of hours.
Last night we tried a new restaurant for dinner and had some of the best food we've ever had. He had elk, I had duck we shared a bottle of wine and a foi gras appetiser that was amazing.
The really kind of wierd thing is that just before we went to the Clerk's office I went to my regular yearly visit to the gynocologist. It added to the surrealness of the day.
We're both back at work today so either the honeymoon's already over or just on hold until later.
Thanks for the well wishes FairyChatMom, AngelicGemma and mistee.

I mean, I've heard of having a mechanic look over a car you are planning on purchasing, but that seems like a little much. :D

Casey1505 I didn't think of that but I like it. I did invite him to join me for the Dr. appt. but he said he'd just rather wait for me at home. Chicken. Funny, he didn't really want to hear the details either.
Reminds me of my first wedding. Picture this, I'm a mere child of 20 (that was 1981 you do the math) big Catholic church wedding, white gown, tuxedos, 4 bridesmaids two of whom are my sisters. We're in the ladies room getting ready and my sisters are chanting this to me:
She fucked, she fucked
She can't wear white
she'll have to wear green
Repeatedly, while stuffing their bras with TP to fill out the bodice of their bridesmaid dresses better. Crazy bitches. It makes me laugh to this day.
apologies for swearing in MPSIMS

Spring has sprung at the SDMB, what with all the matrimonial and gestational urges flowing around here!
All the best, velvetjones. And it truly sounds like the ideal wedding. All except for the gyno thing. Damn, your happiest day should not include the phrase, "Now please slide to the end of the table and put your feet in the stirrups". (Oh and let us know how your mom handles the big news. ;) )

Shirley Ujest Of course I was. The Dr. told me that I was fully "re-virginized" between each marriage. He should know. He holds a number of very prestigious looking diplomas from Wassamatta U (I think that's a foreign university because it was signed by someone with a very foreign sounding name.........I can't remember now.......something ending in 'inkle' ) What?
OK, that's just silly.
Archergal Congrats to you too. 10 days and counting. Wooohooo!
Devena Yes, my wedding day definitely shouldn't have begun with some other man's hand in the poussoir but what could I do. We decided to get married because I already had the day off work and he really needs my insurance coverage. It was a practicality thing.
Thanks DaToad and skittles. Trunk you crack me up. :)
