I'm looking for a GPS Device

The GPS must

Be useful for driving (ie has some sort of map)
The Maps must be of western Canada (ie, Sask, Alta, and Man)
Must be useful for hunting (That means an handheld)
must have some sort of tracking feature, ie it plots where you have gone, and shows a path that you can follow to get home


And it would be nice if it could transmitt your coordinates to another GPS device.

The bulleted points are the deal breakers.

Any suggestions?

a, c, and d are easy. I have no idea about Canada maps, but the websites for Garmin and Magellan should describe what maps you get. With mapping GPSs, you usually can download map sections to it in addition to using the built-in ones.

I doubt you'll find one that can transmit coordinates. The GPS receivers that I know of are receivers only, not transmitters.

Just on your communication point, some (most?) handeld GPS receivers offer the facility to output coordinates (and some other data) in NMEA format and/or a proprietary format. You need to buy a cable though, and these can be expensive.

Inputting those coordinates into another device is more problematical, but inputting into a PC is a piece of cake. This way you can interface with mapping software and other cool tools :) You can usually download and upload waypoints and track data.
