How many goddamn weeks has this thing been going on? My wife has the cable box to default to court TV. I can't remeber the last time I turned the TV on during the day and it wasn't frigging expert witness testimony about the shotgun. The part that sticks in my craw is that they seem to keep goin gover minutia about the lockwork on the gun. Speculation that a wood chip could have lodged between the hammer and sear at the factory or some other malufunction that could have caused it to fire when the action was closed.

Some of you may already know I'm a safety fascist, particularly when it comed to firearms. When you point a loaded shotgun at someone bad things can happen. Very bad things. Shotguns tend to leave an oozy corpse.

The "incident" violated at least two of the cardinal rules of firearms and probably a third. I am pissed at JW for being an asshole in the first place but at the legal system that allows this shit to go on for weeks and weeks just because he can afford that kind of defense.

Well He almost shot Wayne Chrebet of the NY Jets years back doing the same dumb shit, twirling around a fucking shotgun.

Bust him on manslaughter and stop wasting taxpayer money on this bullshit.

Another crime he commited was naming his newest son Whizdom.

Wtf kind of name is that?

Jayson who?
Jayson Williams is a former NBA star, now a hanger-on.

He is accused of killing a driver for one of his guests at his home following a night of drinking. Williams and the driver had words earlier in the evening. Williams killed him with a shotgun. Williams claims he did not intend to fire said shotgun.

I've been listening to the case regularly on Sirius radio. There was an 18 day delay due to the prosecution's failure to turn over key evidence (photos and notes made by one of the prosecutions expert witnesses). During this delay, the jury was out of the court room while the judge and lawyers for both sides sorted things out.

To ESPN.

That way you're sure to avoid trivial news about the trial. ;)

Not just a driver. His limo driver.

The trial was held up, because the prosecutors forgot to provide the defense arroeneys a certain report of the rifle that was twirled in the shooting: a report of the rifle parts, when it was taken apart.

The jury is deliberating now, though, so I guess there won't be too much to report until they come back with a verdict. Of course, the verdict will bring a flurry of reporting again, but there could be a break for a while.

That alone ought to be worth 15-20 yrs., IMO. Add another 30 or so for the manslaughter, and, with any luck, we will have heard the last of Mr. Williams.

15-20 for that name? Are you kidding? Death's too good for him. :p

You're right. I'm getting soft in my old age.

Not to get too carried away with the hijack, but now I'm curious as to whether (Lloyd) World B. Free ever had any kids and, if so, what he named them. Any Cavs fans out there who might remember?

I disagree with the need for gun safety. Sometimes playing with guns can have unexpectedly positive results (http://www.splcenter.org/intel/intelreport/article.jsp?aid=386).
