Squuuueeee!! The "Invader Zim" DVD is finally out!

Yay! I did not think that it would be out for months yet, but I read on another site that it had already shipped, so I went to my local Hot Topic and they had it in stock!

Of course it did mean that I had to enter a Hot Topic (did you know that they sell Happy Tree Friends lip gloss?) but it was a small price to pay (along with the $20).

There is not much in the way of extras. Each episode includes Irken sub-titles. There is some "animatics" thing that I do not fully understand (it seems to show all of the sketchy lay-outs with the audio dubbed over instead of the finished cartoon) and there is a short interview thing with some of the cast (the guy that does Zims voice sounds just like Zim in real life).
The cartoons come out great (only the first 9), so crisp, so clear. The art style of Invader Zim really benefits from the DVD quality.

Were there any commentaries (if so, which episodes)? I heard somewhere that some of the crew members were kinda drunk when they did their interviews. Did it seem that way? I plan to buy this dvd hopefully this week (but it's killing me that I haven't been able to yet).

It's a shame about what happened over the cover art.

I just thought of something. The other day I visisted the Hot Topic online store and their IZ dvd stock was already sold out. Wouldn't it be awesome if IZ followed a similar pattern to Family Guy and had dvd sales so successful, new episodes would be made. I know that's a big hope with the crew already split up and the creators feelings toward nickelodeon, but no one thought there would even be IZ dvds so who knows.
