MrAru and I went to shrek last night, fun movie and had a blast.

Like normal, I just left my laptop on my desk, open though turned off since we were only going out for a couple hours.

Got home, went to turn it on to send some email to a friend and nada...and i noticed that the little on key was ...damp. Explored a little, and the bottom edge of the ecreen was damp. Unplugged wires and flipped it to look some moor, and about a tablespoon of liquid ran out combined from the lid and the keyboard parts. Being puzzled, I looked around, nothing in the room, no ceiling leaks, no beverages [well, ok i remembered that I took my coffee cup into the kitchen before leaving.]

Tentatively sniffed it ... cat whiz. Yup, drops of cat whiz. I know it wasnt my cats, they are both at the vets, getting alien implants and anal probs...well at least id chips implanted. Phlip's cat was in the house when we came home, and he is an unsnipped male...I think I will probably NOT do anything rash, but that is one cat that is no longer going to be belonging to this household one way or another.

I don't know what or if I can save the damned laptop, but I certainly have enough trouble keeping all the bills paid and food on the table to be able to blythly send it out to be repaired or replaced. I am going to check to see if it is covered under my homeowners policy=\

I'm surprised you had to sniff it. The odor those beasts can put in their urine is just... wow.

We had to establish a cat-free zone in my house after Orson horked up a hairball on my husband's keyboard. Still, that's lots better than pee.

Good luck with the computer. Try not to kill the cat. Poke your friend with a sharpened stick.

I can empathize. My wretched beast used to like to sleep on top of the surround sound receiver, since it was a nice and toasty spot. That habit ended the day I came home to find that she'd horked up a hairball right on the vents over the motherboard. Cat barf doesn't really do wonders for electronics.

Fortunately for me (and her), I was able to have it cleaned for about $70. Had that not worked, the electronics repair guy said I'd be best off just buying a new receiver outright (about $600) rather than buying a new motherboard for it, which would have been almost as much as replacing ithe entire unit.

BTW, I broke the "sleeping on the receiver" habit by covering the top of the receiver with loops of packing tape. If there's one thing the cat hates in this world, it's stepping on something sticky.

Normally her furball stays outside, have *no* idea she got the bright idea to let him in...she *know* he is forbidden to come inside as he isn't fixed and i have a fixed male that would pretty much ensure that Pickett would spray around=\

Grrrr :mad: Just really don't have any real ability to spend even $25US to have a computer place check it out... :(
