I know that there have been several cases of failure to thrive from parent directed feeding as well as a lot of women losing their milk supplies due to insufficient stimulation from scheduled feedings, but have any babies actually died from this?

And why are these books still sitting on the shelves of bookstores. Surely a soceity like the US that's all about protecting people from themselves would pull these books. Have the Ezzos ever been sued if someone's baby fft from following their method?

I have never heard of Ezzo-directed parenting, but this article (http://www.parentsplace.com/babies/physical/articles/0,,166661_108532,00.html) does discuss negative health effects from limiting feedings.

Apologies for replying to myself, but there's been some threads on the MB about the Ezzos, including this Pit thread (http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=162744&highlight=ezzo). Cites from that thread document cases of FTT, dehydration, and other serious dangers, but I saw nothing about infant deaths linked to the program.
