Both of these vehicles hit the exact same off-set barrier at 40mph. Now there's no question what would win in a head-on collesion between the two but then again the majority of accidents involve only a single car. All you have to do is look at the dummy's legs and you can get an idea of what would happen if you hit a wall in either car. The MINI had almost no intrusion which "indicates that the driver's survival space was maintained very well" - the F150 on the other hand had "Major collapse of the occupant compartment that left little survival space for the driver."Not what I expected, that's for sure.

I wonder if the results have changed over the last two years? I would imagine the Ford folks were pretty embarassed by this.

I guess if I read the rest of the site, I would have seen that one of the posters provided a cite (http://www.iihs.org/vehicle_ratings/ce/html/0328.htm) where the current model year F-150s scored much better.

My dad has that model F-150. I've heard this report on the news or something a while ago, and as a result, instructed my father to, in the event of an oncoming collision, do his best to aim straight toward the obsticle.

I'm not surprised at all.

The federal government holds trucks and SUVs to a lesser standard than cars when it comes to crash-worthiness. Some have tried to bring the trucks up to car standards, but the automakers have managed to knock down the effort each time.

I've wanted a Mini Cooper for years.
This will only feed the flames of desire.

Knowing that I can hit a wall at 40 miles an hour and just hose off the dashboard in the aftermath.

I wonder if this will damage any of the clowns packed inside.
