This happened months ago, but it's been bothering me for a while now, and I've decided to turn to you, the members of the SDMB, for some clarification on it.
Around 3 months back when I was taking this typing class (well, typing and using Microsoft Word's various features), me and some other students had a deadline to finish some assignments before we had to take our finals. This was a small problem because there were many things we didn't know how to do such as making our graphs just right, changing the color of stuff, and our text book that we were supposed to work from just flat out didn't have clear definitions for many terms. So me and this girl got to talking about how we had no idea what we were doing and how clueless we were and so she decided to that it would be a good idea for me to have her phone numbers and email address in case she needed help.......didn't make a lot of sense to me since we just got done talking about how clueless we were but I took it anyways. That sorta made me a little disorienated by itself. The teacher suggested we take the number of some guy sitting two rows behind us because apparently he knows everything. We both just shake our head and mumbled disagreements.
Now I couldn't tell if she was flirting with me or actually needed help and wasn't listening to me when I said I didn't know what I was doing. So I decided to call her after I got done catching up with her homework so that I could actually help her in case she really needed help. This was about 3-4 days days later if I remember correctly. Well her mom picked up the first time I called and said she would leave a message, and she never called back. So I saw her in class later and she said she didn't really need any help and she got everything done by herself.
So what happened here exactly? Did she want help from someone who was admitedly incompetent in the given subject, or something else?
It probably sounds wierd that I would dwell on something like this, but it left me dumbfounded.
